Think about Miss Piggy. She lost a best friend and now an ex-lover in matter of 24 hours.
Miss Piggy and Dolly Parton in fancy dresses posing together photo of Tim Curry surrounded by muppets, smiling for a photo. A quote from curry is added “it didn’t go very well. It didn’t survive the shoot. She felt I wasn’t being faithful to her” it’s him discussing his ill fated affair with miss piggy

My institutional email quarantined an incoming message due to High Confidence that it was a phishing attempt. It was a request to review a manuscript for an academic journal in my field. It's very tempting to not correct this.

1/ REALLY insightful thread. (Jess's, not miee) Many of my students (particularly undergrads) lack basic computer skills, including folder structures, knowing that you need to download certain files to open them, how to navigate a spreadsheet etc. And it affects their ability to do schoolwork.

Turns out empirically derived phenotypes (data-driven symptom sets) nested within traditional mental disorders can help reduce diagnostic heterogeneity! We learned so much cool and interesting stuff in this study. I could talk (/post) about it all day, but here’s a few highlights (🧵)

“One person is an autocratic president of the university for decades” certainly wasn’t a flawless system but it’s clear that “admins hop from job to job scaling the career ladder by filling their CV with ‘accomplishments’ that are expensive burdens to the schools they leave behind” is even worse.

This let-them-fail approach just grades students on their knowledge of academia's hidden curriculum. And risks perpetuating inequities. Instead I'd say: spend time in *every* course teaching students to write effectively in that field and give them opportunities for low-stakes practice and feedback

I really dislike the trend on this site where people mock Hegseth for having a drinking problem. It is stigmatizing. We can be scornful of fascists without also stigmatizing problems that lots of people struggle with. We should mock him for being an incompetent bootlicker. Isn't that enough?
