At a marathon runtime of four hours, Alex Gibney's new documentary 'Musk' strains to cover the sweep of the oligarch's business empire and its capture of U.S. government. But the interviews with first wife Justine Wilson and latest ex Ashley St. Clair about his vindictive nature hit hardest.

Elon Musk’s Exes Are the Most Damning Part of a Massive New Documentary
Interviews with Justine Wilson and Ashley St. Clair in the nearly four-hour-long “Musk” paint the world’s richest man as capricious and cruel even toward those closest to him.

The nazi dork that Kat so artfully debates here is Trevor Raein, leader of "Evropean Americans". They follow Jake Lang around to call him not a real nazi. He was joined in Bridgeview today by Gregory Conte, one of the organizers of the deadly Unite the Right rally. Details in master thread below ⬇

elon musk on: stealth aircraft (for the record: everyone involved with low-observable aircraft is acutely aware that they are not "invisible," they just have an rcs so small they can't be effectively detected until they are close enough to have already launched weapons and that is super useful.)

America today is a country where regulators won't allow private companies to air interviews of the opposition on TV, but declare that taxpayer funded propaganda is fine.

Nobody wants to borrow $500,000 at an 8% interest rate After 10 years of payments you'll still owe $438,600 Nobody is buying a home today with an 8% interest rate. It's not happening.

This afternoon in 1957, at the Mayak Plant in the closed city of Chelyabinsk-65 in Russia, near Kyshtym in the Southern Urals, a stainless steel tank holding 70-80 tons of highly-radioactive waste from extracting plutonium for nuclear weapons exploded, releasing 20 million curies of radioactivity.

Trump’s new AI website is kinda fun, it turns out.
Can the president use taxpayer funds to air his old campaign ads on TV?

No. Federal appropriations law has long barred using taxpayer funds for political advertising.

In addition to having 16 of the wealthiest billionaires in America pouring money into Republican PACs to buy the midterms, Democrats now have to deal with media companies accepting stolen taxpayer money to run illegal government ads for Republicans.

Ok so here's the thing: the national debt isn't an issue so long as the economy is growing faster than the yields on treasury bonds, because (assuming tax revenue rates stay constant) revenue grows faster than debt expenditures. The US economy is not going to grow faster than 5.612% annually.

Media companies who accept taxpayer money for Trump’s illegal campaign ads should be investigated and prosecuted if appropriate. Media executives accepting this money should be subpoenaed to appear before a Democratic Congress to explain why they are complicit in a crime.

How clear is it that Trump's taxpayer funded ads are illegal? I explain why it is 10/10 clear. Senate in passing the law: Ban is designed to stop public funds used for "glorification" of an individual official. GAO: funds can not be used for "self-aggrandizement" nor partisan political purposes.

Usually reporters get leaks FROM the White House -- but at Fox News, a reporter appears to have leaked TO the White House. That's according to @oliverdarcy.bsky.social's explanation of the sudden Maria Bartiromo erasure by the Murdochs
Status has learned that Bartiromo's termination stems from an incident, which has not previously been reported, that occurred in July. After Trump delivered his unhinged prime time speech in which he pushed more conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, this time making a number of allegations against China, I am told that Fox News issued guidance to senior employees instructing them to steer clear of giving credence to Trump's delusional claims. I'm told that the guidance was issued in writing. Indeed, the day after Trump's prime time address, Fox News conspicuously avoided covering the debunked claims the president had pushed. The lack of coverage raised eyebrows among media observers at the time. It also appears to have caught the attention of the White House. It's unclear whether Trump or someone at the White House inquired with Bartiromo about the lack of coverage. But ultimately Bartiromo spilled the secret, Status has learned, divulging to the White House that Trump's speech had received scant coverage on the channel because network bosses had ordered it so. I'm even told the text message in which Fox News brass offered their guidance was shared by Bartiromo with the White House. In doing sO. Bartiromo not only effectively betrayed her employer, but also disclosed confidential company information, violating the terms of her employment agreement.
