So... how do we find out who's got the good loot? Or at least, what faction they belong to?

A little guy that I got to hang out with at the end of a dive in Lembeh. It was swimming around the mooring line (which is covered in sponges) but occasionally popping out to look at me. ID tentative, but I think it's a Shorthead Sabretooth Blenny (Petroscirtes breviceps) #MarineLife #Wildlife 🐟
A small black-and-white striped fish with a yellow face, looking towards the camera. It is near a sponge-encrusted mooring line.

Of course, I could be completely wrong about all that :) It's pure speculation on my part.

But steps 1-3 take a few minutes, and the previous fight shows as ongoing if you use WHO until it's all complete, which is why you're seeing this. So you just have to hit WHO at the right time... and then curse because someone else was doing the same and got in before you anyways :)

So I think the way it seems to work is: 1. The skirmish ends and the app figures out who won based on stats, prepares, etc 2. The app posts the result 3. The app DMs all participants to tell them the result + consequences 4. We're now done and a new fight can now be initiated

To me this feels like a shot across the bows of the actual moderators - he's telling them what their job is and that he expects them to do it. I'm very glad to see it - we've seen media people duck away from confrontation in the face of obvious lies far too often over the last few years.

Tiny mushrooms, today! I think this is a Goblet Waxcap (Hygrocybe cantharellus) #Nature #FungiFriends
Two tiny mushrooms growing among leaf litter and dead pine needles. They have orange stems and relatively small, yellow caps

You're bang on about the importance of the banking system. The US has used its dominance of that to force its will on others for a long time, and it is becoming increasingly critical that that power be broken before it is further abused.

Sponges and corals, Raja Ampat #MarineLife #Nature
A photo of a portion of reef. A large brown sponge is on the left; its dark exit pores are easily visible. In the middle is an orange-ish branching coral, and on the right is a yellow branching coral colony

Other members of the family are probably closer to what you have in mind. Here's an example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitema...

To add a few more bullet points: - I don't know what movie/TV show/game/obscure animated short film from Croatia in 1963 this image is from - I don't have any idea what this meme means - I'm trying to find that picture that had the really funny alt text that added to the joke - Comics.

Now that's very amusing. Thing is, when I posted it the whole "this is the fish you drew when you were 4" thing didn't occur to me at all!

I don't mind at all! I'm just mildly bemused by the whole thing :)

How is it that one of the duller pics of the things I've seen diving has been the one to take off? Very odd.

So... the fins are pulled in, and the fish can change colour if it likes. Also, did you notice the razorblades on its tail? You will if you mess with it :)

Nah. That fish has a forked tail and is therefore slightly more complex than this one.

A unicornfish from Raja Ampat, feeding on plankton in open water over a reef. I think this is a sleek unicornfish (Naso hexacanthus) but could be one of its relatives. #MarineLife #Wildlife 🐟🌿
An oval fish with a triangular tail. It has two sharp blades at the tail base. It is light blue, with a yellowish tail fin margin and belly. The lower and rear edges of the operculum are dark. The fish is pictured alone, against blue water, but is part of a much larger aggregation feeding over a reef.

It's worth saying again: somehow, we desperately need to break the US stranglehold on the international financial system. Good people having their lives upended because an overgrown toddler threw a shitfit is simply not sustainable.

Today's mushroom-post! Unfortunately I don't have the foggiest idea what it is (maybe someone could give me a hint?), but it's a lovely colour. #FungiFriends 🌿 #Nature
A mushroom with a relatively fat white stem and a round, chestnut-coloured cap. It is growing among dead pine needles in dappled sunlight

I was not aware it was World Octopus Day! I guess I'd better post an octopic then... here's a coconut octopus (Amphioctopus marginatus) from Lembeh. Not as awesome as a GPO but fun to watch nevertheless! 🌿🦑 #Wildlife #Invertebrates
A brown octopus on a sandy seabed. It is covered in a network of fine, darker lines, and pale suckers are visible on its arms. The octopus is in a somewhat huddled position with its arms drawn in. A diver is visible watching it in the background.

TBH I've kinda given up on assuming that the obvious English-language meaning of something is going to be the same as a legal interpretation of it, especially when it's a politically charged issue.

The penalty was execution. The execution was performed. The sentence is complete, and she should therefore be freed. I have absolutely no idea if that holds water from a legal point of view, but I'd be interested to see it argued in court.

I love box crabs, probably because of the way their claws fit so neatly in with the carapace (and also, just look at it!). This is Calappa calappa, disturbed on a night dive in Lembeh and rapidly scuttling away from the bright lights. #MarineLife #Invertebrates #Wildlife 🌿🦀
A rounded crab with large claws that fit neatly into the space in front of its body. It is brown, with reddish spots on it; the claws have some lighter ridges on the lower parts and raised teeth on the upper parts. The crab is scuttling over black sand, although you can't see this in the photo because its legs are hidden. But trust me, it was *moving*

Yes, not big enough to do much damage even if they did go for you. I've always liked M. niger... they look very chill, especially when you get a bunch of them feeding above the reef in the sunshine.

I've done plenty of Caribbean diving in the past, though, and I'm pretty sure I never ran into the Queen (Queen parrotfish, however, are another matter entirely. They're everywhere!)
