But it also matters because language choices - 'remove' 'cut off' 'lop off' 'amputate' - are deliberately made to induce a wincing disgust in cis readers, and a sense of outrage that trans people are 'mutilating' ourselves (or 'being mutilated') - often in contrast to things like cancer surgeries...
