In the last year the trans community have been subject to one of the most brutal and shocking removals of civil rights in modern Britain, under a Labour government. If opposing that reversal is a priority for you, the ONLY option in Holborn and St. Pancras is Zack Polanski.

They've figured out that affluence makes it easier to get expensive assessment proving you have a disability, and apparently decided that the fair thing would be that rich & poor neurodivergent folks should both be screwed over & demonised together

Trans people deserve so much better than having to live through hostile politics that caricature their existence as a problem. Behind all the “legitimate concerns” and “careful reviews” lies an entrenched fear that being trans is bad and is something doctors, politicians, etc should try and prevent.

For those unfamiliar with how dangerous the UK media is, Dr Beth Upton, a NHS doctor that had the temerity of living as a trans woman, was hounded by the UK media after a (coincidentally vicious, racist, hateful bigot hated by all her coworkers) sued the NHS. Dr Beth Upton had to flee the country

All of these can be true: 1. Arday was a serial fabulist. 2. He deserved to be fired. 3. He did not deserve to be hounded to death by a rabid media. 4. The people who first attacked him are far worse humans than Arday ever was. This is not confusing if you understand that reality is nuanced.

Trying to make Arday a perfect victim only leaves the next Black person there's a hareassing media circus about just as vulnerable. He was found out, he resigned, at best a niche mid-section news piece for a day. Instead he was continuously tormented, THAT'S the problem! THAT'S what needs to change!

It genuinely hasn’t occurred to me that the Arday situation had anything more to do with trans rights than it does with the implementation difficulties of a land value tax until today, and I really don’t know why so many journalists are convinced it does

I love my Blackness and think that Black people, like all minorities, taking pride in our Blackness is healthy. But so many people and groups, purporting to be supportive or not, forget the person and just use us as a black prop for whatever point they're making

Jason Arday resigned from Jesus and the education faculty and asked people to stop nine days ago in his resignation letter That should have been the end of it, but instead it became a blood sport for the press and monetised social media alike - the money was too good, the attention too valuable

Posting in anger which is always a good idea... Arday never should have been treated as such a public figure by the media in the first place. But right-wing twats writing columns will do zero self reflection & move on to dehumanising the next person of colour to step out of line & then fuck up. RIP

Others have noted that this gigantic march hasn't gotten the level of attention it deserves—so let's amplify the story. This seems like a good writeup from the Independent. "An estimated 150,000 people marched through central London in the world’s largest trans pride event, organisers have said."

Protesters voiced anger at the new guidance on single sex-spaces and fears that trans people are being excluded from society.

In accordance with ancient tradition, our next Prime Minister is announced to the nation while standing between a furry and a man with a bin on his head.
A victorious Andy Burnham MP (24,937 votes), as the result of the Makerfield by-election is announced, flanked by defeated candidates Count Binface (a bloke in a vaguely sci-fi costume with a large bin for a helmet; 95 votes) and Robert Pownall (who is in a full body fox costume, holding a sign reading "Protect British Wildlife"; 18 votes). There are some other candidates there just out of shot but that's not important right now.
