Philipp leaves a hole. A hole in our minds that noone but him could ever fill. With his own creativity noone could emulate, with his own style noone could attempt to copy, with his own expectations noone could could fulfill, not even himself. Now we stand in front of this and dont know what to do.

Over the last year Philipp became more than a colleague, but a friend. He leaves us speechless, depleted, and bereft of one of the smartest and precious people we could consider our own. I can't fathom what his family feels now. The news of his death felt like a punch to the face.

Ein paar Worte zu „Linke Politikwissenschaftler wie Tarik Abou-Chadi…“ Eine ungute und gefährliche Entwicklung, dass sich solche Formulierungen immer häufiger finden. Gerade in Situationen, in denen wissenschaftliche Evidenz der eigenen Argumentation entgegensteht. Das hier ist ein Paradebeispiel.

It is a false distinction to see the atrocious attack in Berlin as something unique or exceptional. It is wrong to claim that it is an "attack on our free societies". It is a continuation of the practices of these societies. Only if we overcome these practices can we actually be safe.
