foul balls are a huge concern for major league baseball. fans typically keep the ones they catch, and there's not exactly any good reason to buy a ticket to a baseball game if you have your own baseball at home you can look at anytime you want

When the Astros were steamrolling through the playoffs, year after year, winning pennants and going to the world series every year, the stoic, above it all, arrogance culture is fine. When you can barely win 80 games it's lame and stupid.

As this chapter of Astros baseball finally, truly comes to a close, my biggest gripe is that this team is not fun. They don't let the players show their personality. The social media posts are boring. The theme nights are annoying and don't have anything to do with Houston. The culture is stale.

The film is written, directed, and co-stars Hitoshi Ozawa, a legendary Yakuza actor who is a villain in Yakuza 0, who got his fellow legends involved. This was his passion project inspired by one of his best friends, a trans woman, and he worked with the community for representative casting.

Studying Latin and came across this wonderfully cranky letter from Pliny. Was he the first obnoxious nerd to be a loud killjoy about "sportsball"?

I HAVE spent these several days past among my papers with the most pleasing tranquillity imaginable. You will ask how that can possibly be in the midst of Rome? Why, the Circensian Games were taking place; a kind of entertainment for which I have not the least taste. They have no novelty, no variety, nothing, in short, one would wish to see twice. I am the more astonished that so many thousands of grown men should be possessed again and again with a childish passion to look at galloping horses, and men standing upright in their chariots. If, indeed, they were attracted by the swiftness of the horses or the skill of the men, one could account for this enthusiasm. But in fact it is a bit of cloth they favour, a bit of cloth that captivates them.
