I oopsed & let someone steal my bike :) #Kitchener @cyclewr.ca project529.com/garage/bikes...
Image with text overlay.

Above: Normalizing surveillance is not chic.
Middle: image from a doorbell camera of someone in a black shirt riding a road bike downhill with two panniers on the rear rack.
Below: Help me find my bike tho?Top image: bike in a messy garage.
Middle text describes bike: Small [black] Nishiki road bike with a pink bottle cage, leather seat & handlebar wrap, full fenders, rear rack. Generator hub and lights. Swiped from Fairview/King along with my laptop :(
Bottom image: View of legs riding the same bike. There is a water bottle in the pink cage and you can see the custom handlebar wrap as well as the generator hub.Top image: bike in a messy garage.
Middle text describes bike: Yes it's low-key fancy but I build it as a volunteer at Recycle Cycles and it's been my main summer ride for over a decade. I am a careful consumer, but yeah, am a little naive about thieves.
Bottom image: View of legs riding the same bike. There is a water bottle in the pink cage and you can see the custom handlebar wrap as well as the generator hub.Image almost entirely covered in text. Background is Elysha riding said bike, wearing sunglasses , yellow helmet, a black shirt & rainbow shorts.
Text: i feel so helplessly let down by my politicians who refuse to provide basic care to their citizens, which leads to desperate people hurting strangers to try and survive
i just want to ride my bike

One of my silly ideas during the pandemic was a concept called Mending Before Breakfast, I think I only did one video about it because it quickly got out of control

Very disappointed in #KitCouncil's decision to exempt some neighbourhoods from sharing in growing up instead of out. www.therecord.com/news/council...
“But this plan reinforces an important principle — if we want a city where everyone is welcome, then every neighbourhood must share in accommodating growth.”

Sesame Street is a (fictional) mixed housing and commercial neighbourhood that serves primarily newcomers and lower income residents. Exempting neighbourhoods from building slightly denser and more affordable housing (4-6 storeys) is the antithesis to #SesameStreet. www.therecord.com/news/council...
Text: Stretch acknowledged that not everyone in the Aud neighbourhood supports the three-storey limit.

But she said another resident’s description of the area as “a Sesame Street experience” captured its uniqueness.

“I thought that painted a really great picture of what it’s like … I’d like to see this area grow in a way that is able to put that culture first.”

Developments seeking taller buildings in these areas would require an official plan amendment.

The expression is (apparently) "underwater basket weaving", Ford and can a medical degree do THIS? www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Wicker bird sculpture on a white background, with a brass bird looming behind. The woven bird has a short grumpy stature, an oversized beak and a little bowl-shaped hat that hints at eyes and a crest. The same two birds again, this time photographed from a higher angle. The woven bird's "hat" has been inverted and now the points face upwards to look more like a crown.

Went on a bit of a willow weaving bender.
Three willow baskets and three basket bases stacked on an antique radiator (it's a one-pipe steam system but we don't have to talk about that). Brown, green, and red willow woven into a large oval, small oval, and small round asymmetrical basket! Three round bases for future weaving whims.

34 was the year my hands finally started saying they're tired. Need to figure out how to care for them better. For now, mending by machine instead of just a needle and thread. Picking a strategy that's a little easier on the hands 👐🏻
Black leggings being repaired with pink cotton thread at a sewing machine. The previous repairs are visible too, dots of grey yarn hand-stitched and holding up well after a year of wear.
