They're nice trousers, wool, and buckles that adjust the waistband size. The zipper pull was corroded and seized, I cleaned and replaced it and added a new zipper stop.
Fixed trousers!! Black wool with pleats and two buckles that adjust the waistband size. I am showing off the new red zipper stop.

This month they’re doing collages. Collages stress me out and I’m a little glad I’m missing out BUT I do hear lots of people find that collage art is fun and light and sweet and overall BGDC is a darling queer community space open to all ages go enjoy!!
This is the image I used to make the previous digital flyer, it is a picture from the last time Be Gay Do Crafts did collage. The part that stressed me out was that I offered my copy of the Canadian Green Consumer Guide for some reason...which I regretted a lot because it's a cool book. Oh well. Maybe I will patch it back together one day.

Finally we’re closing out the month in Toronto with Knit City on March 27-29. This will be a big one! There are TONS of vendors in addition to talks and workshops, check their website for more info :)
Digital flyer for Knit City Toronto. March 27-29, 2026 at Enercare Centre. The top half of the flyer shows three white people hanging out at the Tullys Yarn/Worth Mending booth. Yep, that's us! I'm caught with a goofy look on my face and one hand in motion because I'm probably flailing around, with my two friends looking quite normal in the background. Ooh, all of our booth display stuff got stolen last year so our display this year will look totally different how fun is that!

This Sunday! If I'm lucky, I'll get to gawk at a bunch of Irish knitwear riddled with holes. Can't wait! Get tickets at irishreallife.ca ($25/pwyc at the KW Art Gallery)
Digital flyer, background image is a beautiful muted purple cable knit cardigan being repaired with pink and gold yarn. The top half shows the repair in-progress, Elysha's hands darning using a Swift Darning Loom. The bottom half is the "after" image, the cuffs highlighted in gold with a pink-and-gold darn on the right sleeve. This sweater was given to me by a friend and now that it's fixed, it's beloved by my little sister she's so lucky!

Firstly, you do get this cover image I created for IG because well, I need everyone to know that sorting sticks at Steckle Farm (with Agnes of mindfulmakers.ca and swooppublicart.ca) is a very cute and sweet activity
A digital flyer of sorts, with the text worth mending what's happening; march events. the background image is a view from inside a barn on a sunny blue late-feb day, you can see the landscape through the open barn door. in the foreground there are a bunch of willow sticks leaning to the left, and in the middle ground are my stick-sorting pals sorting sticks. This was Agnes' first year growing willow at Steckle (aka Stickle) Farm and I'm so delighted to support her sweet sticky ventures.

EAEC47 is my favourite digital colour and I use it often when highlighting/colour-coding/graphic-designing. I picked it in 2020 or 2021 without too much thought: just moving the little crosshair around until it landed somewhere in the “bright chartreuse” range.
screenshot of a colour picker for the colour #eaec47. the colour breakdown reads: hue 60, sat 178, val 236, red 234, green 236, blue 71.

The expression is (apparently) "underwater basket weaving", Ford and can a medical degree do THIS? www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Wicker bird sculpture on a white background, with a brass bird looming behind. The woven bird has a short grumpy stature, an oversized beak and a little bowl-shaped hat that hints at eyes and a crest. The same two birds again, this time photographed from a higher angle. The woven bird's "hat" has been inverted and now the points face upwards to look more like a crown.

Went on a bit of a willow weaving bender.
Three willow baskets and three basket bases stacked on an antique radiator (it's a one-pipe steam system but we don't have to talk about that). Brown, green, and red willow woven into a large oval, small oval, and small round asymmetrical basket! Three round bases for future weaving whims.

Visible mending is silly because I could for sure fix this hole right now and no one would know it even existed... Or I could wait til it's out of control and do something cool with the repair 😌😂

I'll still be there, undecided on bike/walk" [slightly abridged]Pic of a residential street, lots of snow, not plowed, sun shining in background. Text overlay says "beautiful day to walk (most of the sidewalks were even clear!"Selfie with cleared bike trail and blue sky in the background, text overlay says "Pedestrian superhighway perfectly maintained as always 💘"Main street in Kitchener (it's Weber for the creeps), not plowed, and where the asphalt peeks through its slippy. 34 was the year my hands finally started saying they're tired. Need to figure out how to care for them better. For now, mending by machine instead of just a needle and thread. Picking a strategy that's a little easier on the hands 👐🏻

These are the sorts of items that are inside - fabric, mostly, and some wood. a rectangular rainbow-striped patch on top of more rainbow-striped fabric. The colour grade starts and ends with pink, with ROYGGBV in between. All but the pink rows hold a phrase, in a plain machine-embroidered lower case font:

queer as in collective liberation
queer as in fuck the police
queer as in housing for all
queer as in fire to the prisons
queer as in free palestine
queer as in land back
queer as in then, now, forever

“Fast fashion swept away a certain kind of commonsense know-how and respect surrounding our clothing, from how to recognize a good buy and shop for quality to how to sew on a button and mend a hole in a favourite pair of jeans. I am to do my part to resurrect these time-tested life skills."
Mended jeans on a white table. Foreground text reads: "Choosing well for our wardrobes [and mending]… are some of the most emotionally rewarding habits we can cultivate in our everyday lives.”

Stretching it over the side of my #SwiftDarner work surface helped (the threads were a little more visible, yet the groove left space for the latch hook to reach around) but this was still so silly to try lol
and not silly in a fun way 🧐 this was microscope work. Green rib knit held vertically on a wooden plank which you can see has a groove cut out of the side. Blue elastic keeping everything taut. White sewing thread holding the stitches that were just ladder-darned with a latch hook but there is still a hole visible. Pale hand and green background slightly out of focus.

An impossibly fussy and futile pursuit, even for me 🧐 #mending
Pale hands holding a magnifying lens that is attempting to embiggen an exceptionally fine, green rib knit. You can see the window reflection more clearly than the latch hook that is attempting to pick up dropped stitches radiating from the hole in this garment.

comment was inspired by walking into the bathroom & finding some plant cuttings I was setting up to propagate, I'll finish that now 😂
Close up of a novelty plant pot depicting a squirrel holding a giant acorn. The acorn is open on top and full of pebbles. In the background there is a second same pot with plant cuttings already in it. Between is a random mug with a birch bark pattern that kinda adds to the foresty scene, and out of focus my sister scraped her name into the backsplash of the countertop.

Silly selfie Scott bombed into. I wore all clothes I got from previous swaps or otherwise friends! Had a different shirt on when we started but it was hotttt in there 🥵 so I picked up this great handmade tee!
Elysha selfie in front of mirror in Kwartzlab textiles space. There's a lot going on in the pic but most notably Scott is blurry, walking past making a funny face that the camera managed to capture. Swapped 'fit is green tee (new today), black/white checkerboard skirt (used to be a cardigan), wool tights given to me full of holes (now mended), orange socks (also very mended)...and thrifted ~indoor shoes~. In the frame you can see a dress form, a floor loom, and a wall (plastered with sewing patterns to make an abstract brown pattern) covered in shelves of sewing machines, thread and other notions.

#GraphicDesignIsMyPassion ok but this sine wave distortion is so FUN I love what it does to the wood grain and the weaving!!!! Fun fact for nerds, I do all of my editing in #theGIMP on #Linux. FOSS forever!
A Swift Darning Loom beside a pair of socks mended in blue and pink. The whole scene has a vertical sine wave distortion filter applied, so it's all wavy and weird looking. The wood grain is wavy and the darned patches look not like a plain weave but more like an undulating twill weave.

We moved last year and our new neighbours have a magnificent garden. They gave us so many jalapenos. This is the last of the cowboy candy I made with them, goodnight sweet (and spicy) prince
A toasted poppyseed bagel sits on top of a round wooden cutting board. It's got a generous slathering of vegan butter and topped again with sliced pickled jalapeno rounds. To the right is the jar of remaining brine with a fork in it. The whole setup is at the edge of a white table with wooden flooring out of focus in the background.

Beige fabric laid on green sofa. On the fabric, a wooden frame sits around an array of dried poppy heads. The stalks are attached with a narrow band of black weaving. Close-up of the extra stitches. These knees are two layers - strong denim inside, and decorative quilting cotton patch stuck on with interfacing. The denim patch inside is solid but wanting to show off alllllll the squares I left the seam allowance too small and it started peeking out. Oopsie 😇
Close up. The jeans are barely visible but it's a knee patch, in patchwork quilt squares of pink/blue/yellow patterns. 2-3 rows of small running stitches at top and bottom secure the patchwork to the denim below, where the original seam allowance was too small to hold properly.
