Hey, I’m just asking questions. Ignorant questions, bigoted questions, questions that have been repeatedly answered for many years. Sorry, but I’m not listening to answers right now; I’m far too busy asking questions. It’s called being intellectually curious.

The sunny side of this delusion is the computer gives you a flying car and makes it so you don't have to work. The blackpill one is that it wipes us out via some cinematic method TBD. Two futures you don't actually have to live in. Both are abdications, and embarrassingly childish on their face.

It's too depressing and obnoxious to write about, but virtually all of the doomy/horny AI hyperventilating is transparently displaced anxiety about our fucked climate and political situation. Even rich idiots know it's bad and being permitted to get worse. They're trying to write their own ending.

My body is a machine
A diagram of a human head with highlighted sections, eye, brain, mouth, and the words "My body is a system of complex machines, taking in and processing information, and turning it into the dumbest thing you've ever heard"

From the mouth come the words "yeah I think if some guys tried to break into my house I could take them out with my nunchucks."

QRP your bird art 🐓 Also all chicken haha (Hi I am a marine biologist 🦑) #Art #SciArt
A 4-panel graphic with the title "Know your chickens". Top left is "land chicken". It's a drawing of a chicken and says underneath "most abundant bird on Earth". Top right is "chicken of the sea". It's a drawing of a tuna and says underneath "not actually a chicken". Bottom left is "formal chicken". It's a drawing of a penguin and says underneath "this is a penguin". Bottom right is "headless chicken monster". It's a drawing of a red body that's the shape of a chicken you just bought from the roaster but where its head would have been is a purple flower-looking thing. It has short, cape-like ruffles coming off of what feel like its shoulders and where the legs would have been are purple, ribbed wing-looking things like would run down the back of the neck on a swamp monster. Underneath it says "a deep-sea sea cucumber (related to sea urchins)".

I keep seeing articles about men worrying they won't pass on their genes, and I don't understand why the media won't tell the plain truth: as a man hoping to sire children, the most important thing to do is artfully assemble a bower and surround it with a collection of startlingly blue objects.

Bobtail and Bottletail Squids (order Sepiolida) are a small and adorable group of cephalopods. Most bobtail squid (family Sepiolidae) species are bioluminescent, which they used to hide their silhouette at night; no bottletail squid species (family Sepiadariidae) is bioluminescent.
A Southern Bottletail Squid (Sepiadarium austrinum) sitting on white sand. Its arms are close to its body and are sweeping to either side. Its leftmost arm is raised slightly. It has some sand on top of its head and mantle. The bottletail squid is a vibrant orange colour, except for some white above its eyes.A Berry's Bobtail Squid (Euprymna berryi) sitting on a sandy seafloor. The bobtail squid is so small that the grains of sand are clearly visible. The bobtail squid has its arms tucked back so there are below its head and part of its mantle. The back end of the mantle is resting on the ground. The bobtail squid is a beautiful mix of iridescent yellow, green cyan and blue, with a bunch of black and dark brown chromatophores covering its body like spots. The background is out of focus and blurry.A Striped Pyjama Bottletail Squid (Sepioloidea lineolata) sitting on the sand. It is white with black to dark brown lengthwise stripes and it has some sand on its head, right above its eyes. The top of its eye is orange.A close up of a Stubby Bobtail Squid (Rossia pacifica) sitting on the sandy sea floor, facing the camera. It is quite close so it looks like you are lying down next to the bobtail squid and it is looking into your eyes with its horizontal pupils.. Its mantle is behind it and its are going down and mostly hidden. The bobtail squid is covered in red chromatophores and has some blue and green chromatophores, especially round the eyes. The sand is beige.

Marking the beginning of September with this pic from this time of year in 2025. One of faves from last year - Sandhill Crane among the late summer blooms #birds
Head and shoulders of a tall, elegant crane visible as it strides through tall reeds and weeds along the edge of a prairie slough. The bird is grey with red cap, white cheek and golden eye. It’s facing left in profile. Out of focus yellow and purple blooms surround it and there is water in the background.
