I really liked the show Devs (2020), and it didn't ruin it for me, still really like it, but I thought they were really gonna go for it with the ending and I felt they just chickened out.

The movie Anastasia absolutely freaked me as a kid. All I remember is I went to see it not with my parents and that it was really scary and I wanted to leave the theater, and I spent the whole time covering my eyes and ears.

Now for a less diplomatic point: it is high time to stop humoring the bigoted beliefs of groups about other groups (because that is exactly what is going on here, "Jews are an artificially united construct" is not a randomly acquired bit of crankery, it is the hallmark of Middle Eastern antisemitism

People often miss this. Antisemitism may not be structural in the US today in the way anti-Blackness is, but overcoming the legalism of Judaism for the spirit of love of Christianity is the ur-narrative for so much left politics in the culturally Christian world. We need to guard against it.

It's not called the *Fundamental* Attribution Error for nothing. When I lash out with violent rhetoric it's for good and understandable reasons but when you react to it it's because you harbor a secret yet intense bigotry against me and people like me!

A big problem with the Democratic base is that it believes you are more likely to get very left outcomes if your candidates have the most left positions, when in reality you are more likely to get very left outcomes by electing the most possible Democrats

Whenever I see a post whinging about the Dems as “you guys”, it reminds me of Wicked Child we read about at Passover. The one who does not see themselves as part of our people. Oh, so you don’t see yourself as part of the team? Not part of the broad center left coalition? I find that instructive

I am always pretty leery of the idea that marginalized people have a responsibility to handle disputes "within the community" to avoid making their group look bad, because that is traditionally how a LOT of abuse gets justified and covered-up.

The Laken Riley act is a direct consequence of Democrats staying home and exit polls showing that anti immigrant policies were what voters wanted. Because the people who wanted more immigrant friendly policies - didn't vote. So they don't exist. Expand this to any issue you like.

That is leaving aside—which we really shouldn’t—that “Republicans win after running on transphobia” would not actually make Democrats who lost in those districts think “darn I wasn’t woke enough”
