250k people work in Texas Unis. You can't seriously say that $80m in Texas would buy more votes than getting <2000 extra jobs for 1 year. That $80m pulled funds to counter it. It created lifelong voters. It make networks to try again next time. A loss is not a waste.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,

I feared this would be one of the effects of the e-bike moral panic: Disabled people losing access to a gamechanging piece of transportation technology. This is a great reminder of how disabled nondrivers are often completely absent from conversations and policy debates about transportation.
Jesse’s Rides specializes in selling e-bikes, e-trikes and scooters for people with mobility or other issues that would preclude them from obtaining a car driver’s license. The law has hit this community hardest because many who can’t pedal rely on throttle-controlled Class 2 e-bikes, which have to be insured and require a license, she said. The woman who returned her new e-bike has a vision issue and fears that this would prevent her from getting an e-bike license under the new law, since she doesn’t have a driver’s license.

The law also unfairly affects people with medical issues who buy low-speed e-bikes with a throttle instead of a pedal-assist for use as transportation, Connor said.

“There are disabled people losing jobs or who can’t get to school because of this dumb bill,” she said.

Discworld QOTD, from Guards! Guards!
“What if it’s just a thousand-to-one chance?” said Colon agonizedly.
“What?”
“Anyone ever heard of a thousand-to-one shot coming up?”
Carrot looked up. “Don’t be daft, Sergeant,” he said. “No one ever saw a thousand-to-one chance come up. The odds against it are”—his lips moved—“millions to one.”
“Yeah. Millions,” agreed Nobby.
“So it’d only work if it’s your actual million-to-one chance,” said the sergeant.
“I suppose that’s right,” said Nobby.
“So 999,943-to-one, for example—” Colon began.
Carrot shook his head. “Wouldn’t have a hope. No one ever said, ‘It’s a 999,943-to-one chance but it might just work.’”
