Jon Isaacs of the Portland Metro Chamber is spending hundreds thousands of dollars to protect his (public $ subsidized) job. Some councilors won’t work with him anymore because of his inability to control his horrific temper. He knows that if DSA is here to stay, his lucrative grift is over.
For me, standing together with authentic people who want nothing but the best for our community is what life is all about. Even if I go down swinging I will never stop fighting for Portland. Let's get back to electing genuine workhorse progressives like Kellie Torres and put an end to the city council dysfunction once and for all. Just take the time to meet Kellie and you will understand what a game changer she will be for the city.

So the responses I’m seeing from Chief Day and Councilor Clark to @councilorgreen.bsky.social’s heartfelt plea to build a world that doesn’t need police or prisons is the same line I’ve always heard, “Well that’s not *our* reality.” No duh! You’re actively standing in the way of it.

Oregon’s new budget forecast reveals stark divide: Wages are down, but profits for corporations, the wealthy are surging
Hits to Oregon’s economy have only reduced projected tax collections for the 2025-27 state budget by $23 million – virtually a rounding error in the context of a $40 billion spending plan.

Laurie Wimmer (on behalf of the Northwest Oregon Labor Council) is supporting the amendment to defund the police accountability commission. Wimmer continues to advocate for the interests of the Portland Police Association even though they aren’t members of the labor council.

Portland City Council President Jamie Dunphy and Council Members Laurie Wimmer, Executive Secretary-Treasurer,
NW Oregon Labor Council, AFL-CIO
Portland's 2026-2027 Budget

Thank you so much for your consideration of the comments we share today, representing as the convenor of the Portland Labor Leaders Budget Coalition, which provided you our budget-balancing ideas in an April letter that implored the Mayor, CA, and this Council to consider front-line worker cuts your option of absolute last resort.

As you consider which of the Councilors' proposed amendments to adopt to fine-tune the Mayor's 2026-27 budget, we hope you will consider our input.

While we appreciate all the good ideas advanced, a few raise concerns and several draw our greatest support. In the concern category, we would ask that this body resist the inclination to expand programs, add new programs, or add new staffing in this time of crisis, when some 150 city employees have been targeted for cuts. As worthy as any of these ideas may be, now is not the time to add to the family when we're struggling to feed the children we have.

With that said, we do particularly urge you to pass the following "Top Tier" proposals:

Clark-Pirtle Guiney-Novick-Ryan-Smith
This common-sense loan to restore non-sworn core service jobs in public safety would enable all those critical public-contact employees to continue their good work. This is one of just a few proposals that does more than, as some councilors have put it, "nibble around the edges" of the Mayor's recommend budget I

Morillo-Green-Novick 1
This amendment to pause core realignment would restore 46 non-management jobs. We especially appreciate the sensitivity with which its sponsors call for the engagement of front-line workers and their labor representatives to facilitate this concept.
