Lucien Lazare, Jewish fighter in the French Resistance, has died at 101. After fighting the Nazis, he was rejected by his synagogue later in life for translating an article saying “Israel, today, is nothing but a formless mass of corruption, oppression and injustice.” www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/w...

Trump tomato tariffs could spell the end of free chips, salsa at restaurants
The 17% tariff on Mexican tomato imports, combined with bad weather in Florida and Mexico, has caused the price of salsa ingredients to spike in recent months.

Google may see AI as a hammer and web search as nothing but nails, but in my experience the use cases where its AI tools can actually help fall into three distinct categories: info scattered around the web, a query ISO a personalized answer, a query that is more of a conversation. (gift link)

After a few months of living the AI native lifestyle, I now believe the default state is that it makes you worse at your job overtime as you understand less and hand off more thinking to AI. You’re more productive but it takes a lot of effort for your work quality not to drop precipitously.
