My husband has been so livid about these data centres because it’s evil that the government can invest so many resources and feed clean water to these data centres when there are still 38 active long-term drinking water advisories in First Nations communities.

MA wants to have more transparency over what AI data centres do and a number of other U.S. states are taking similar steps but here in Saskatchewan, and from the federal government, nothing but silence. It's time we demand they actually protect the public interest www.mass.gov/executive-or...

If you think an artist's style looks like AI but you can scroll back through their portfolio and see them doing the same work before 2020, congrats, you're not looking at an AI grifter. You're looking at one of the original victims whose entire style AI stole.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

It's amazing how many people will tell you with a straight face that "immigration is spiraling out of control under the Liberals" when the government very publicly, 2 years ago, announced they were slashing immigration targets in half and freezing immigration rates at a hard cap until 2028

Boykin: The Republicans control the entire government. They control the white house. They control the house. They control the senate. They control six of the nine seats on the supreme court. If you're not happy with the way the country is running America, blame the Republicans.

There's a reason previous Liberal governments looked at privatizing airports and didn't go through with it. Private investors don't want a stake in our public assets to make them better. They’re in it to make as much money as possible for themselves - while workers and passengers pay the price.

Yup - I’d say an “accident” is soon going to happen to the Kennedy Center.
“Afterward, I saw a forklift carrying what appeared to be a more permanent form of fencing drive over to the north aide of the building. I saw the forklift run i to and hit the pillars on the building several times,” Kennedy-Bailey wrote.

The benefits of privatization are routinely asserted with great confidence, although rarely with any proof. The evidence suggests that privatization costs us dearly while eroding public control over key parts of our economy—and, with it, our collective power and democratic capacity as a nation.

In a similar vein, I’m freaked out at how little outrage the Moneris sale is generating. Canadians get all nationalist about a map name change (right so) but not about all our financial transaction data being sold off to American tech firms?
