And thankfully not on a Saturday, where the corner store folks have to put out signs begging the queue to let shoppers in. But it is good! And the punch card loyalty program is a lovely touch.

So many problems, in so many states, are downstream of our unwillingness to tax real estate at its market value, and more generally of our unwillingness to acknowledge that housing wealth is, in fact, wealth.

The Chronicle gets it: the Bay Area will not work without public transit. We must pass the Regional Transit Measure, else we're looking at a future that may not have BART at all, and that will see drastic cuts to other services.

Endorsement: The Bay Area cannot function without public transit. Yes on the Regional Transit Measure
OPINION: Basic geometry dictates that there are too many of us living in too narrow confines for everyone to drive. The Bay Area needs its transit systems solvent, the editorial board writes.

First day of school! I’m not in that world directly as much any more, but commute had littles running into the schoolyard with glee, sobbing mom with her sobbing Kindergartner, angsty pre-teens waiting for the 8 with backpacks. Good luck to them and everyone else going back to school!

Los Angeles’ housing crisis has gone on far too long. Rents have skyrocketed, homes are overcrowded, and working families are being pushed out of the city every single day. We have a moral imperative to build, and to build now.

In my single morning bike commute down market today, two police cards turned right with no signal (no lights on), one truck blocked the entire intersection, and a private car zoomed through red light across 7th as one of the police cars watched.

interesting to me that as the administration treats democratic-voting states like conquered or occupied territories, you don’t have pundits demanding the president respect “half the country”

It's wild to me how many people do not understand this. "Luxury housing" is not some ontologically separate category from the rest of the housing market. Nor is "affordable housing." It's all one big fluid market & when you build more, everyone moves up & frees up the bottom end.

in a lot of ways the current republican government is just the worst, extractive red state governance taken national. total hostility to public goods, total indifference to long-term investment, and a monomaniacal interest in using the state to enrich private benefactors

I still have hope in our generation and in this country, in our contributions to securing and extending those ideals of liberty and justice for all, and the work ahead. We may not make 275 or 300. But let’s give it all we can.

There was a world I’d be very excited for today. I’m not. But, I’m remembering the men and women who fought for the ideals of America. For an America that was constantly seeking to be the best version of itself, striving for liberty and justice for all. For the better angels of our nature.

Slightly personal, but I've had the worst months of my personal life this year + a really bad week. Even then, biking down Market, SF's pride flags still give me goosebumps. I'm so grateful to live in this City, for what SF gave me, and for the welcome we'll give other young queer kids this weekend.

“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.” Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life. Common sense. Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.

Best reporting I've seen to date on what last week's @airresources.bsky.social vote could mean for Muni: cuts to free and reduced-fare programs, and a big gap in capital funding for the upgrades to the train control system.

A California environmental board voted to cut $202M from SF’s eco-friendly transit
Muni stands to lose hundreds of millions with changes to a state program that funds public transportation by charging firms for permits to emit carbon.
