Hakea ceratophylla growin by the swamp! Such a cool looking species with its variably lobed leaves and rusty orange coloured blooms. A common species found in winter wet habitat and Granite outcrops, these were quite at home at the edge of the Scott River peat swamps

Hypoxidaceae (Asparagales) are a family of herbaceous rosettes with folded (plicate) leaves. It’s a small family with fewer than 200 spp. Hairs are prominent, & flowers are often yellow. This is Hypoxis hirsuta, which grows in the woodlands around my house. #Hypoxidaceae #Botany 🌾🧪🌱

Rare Grevillea in a road side ditch, well a ditch that matches its preferred habitat at least 🤷🏻‍♂️ Grevillea papillosa, a Priority 3 species restricted to winter wet areas and swamps from Augusta to Nannup.

I came across this patch of Asterella drummondii (Aytoniaceae) producing sooooo many Sporophytes! This little liverwort is one of two species noted in WA and it’s quite common found throughout Australia. I find them often around granite outcrops or on the side of small creeks.
