whetstone @whetstone.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Yes. Essential in childhood and remarkably durable, but not perfect lifetime immunity. We had (what felt at the time like) a bunch of measles going around in my state a few years ago and I was not playing with that, so I got my doctor to order the test. Really grateful to have re-upped my immunity! 1131
whetstone @whetstone.bsky.social · 03/10/2026… probably. Sometimes the immunity does fade over time, so it’s worth getting your titers checked sometime in middle age. For me my measles immunity was still there but mumps was completely gone, so I got a booster. 4471

whetstone @whetstone.bsky.social · 02/10/2026You can determine the minimum and maximum duration between calls; the birdsong generation is based on a dataset of Japanese birdsong, and the calls are identifiable. This is a delightful, tiny thing, and it fulfills the purpose we envisioned for it perfectly. So it's not that there's *no* use. 130
whetstone @whetstone.bsky.social · 02/10/2026The thing about "AI" is that it does have some genuinely convenient uses, primarily in coding for people who already know how to code.
