It was such a hard slog through rain and traffic to get there, but the first day of the Manila International Book Fair #MIBF was crazy crowded 1/

Crowds on the first day of the Manila International Book Fair at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila. Not even the monsoon could stop these people from getting their new books.

More people browsimg through the books at each booth.

It doesn't look it, but this sea of humanity was actually a very long and winding orderly line to the checkout counters at the Fully Booked booth. Fully Booked is the country's largest and most popular bookstore chain.

And yes I was in that line, right behind the guy with the orange backpack.

I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.
