You know what, you're right. I guess now I remembered them as episodic, but now I realize that each 30 minute episode had a beginning and an ending, with arcs being 3-7 episodes long. So story arcs took their time but episodes always revolved around a plot point, this made them pretty easy to watch.

Correct. Also, Trump made a mistake calling it a Democratic Hoax early, because then he had to continuously double down, subjecting his old white voter base to the absolute worst of the Pandemic. The only reason why COVID wasn't a genocide is that old white boomers largely had access to healthcare.

Trump based his response on preliminary data showing black people had a higher death rate. He didn't really count on white Republicans believing his statement that Covid was a "Democrat Hoax" and letting antivax hucksters steer the argument, ultimately costing him big amongst his own constituency.

This is the correct take, because yes, from the preliminary data it was clear that people of color, especially black people, were dying at a much faster rate than the global average. The fact that old white Republicans believed Trump when he called it a "Democrat Hoax" really came back to bite him.

We don't use the term "genocide" too much. In fact, based solely on the legal definition, I'd argue we use it far too little. Maybe if we were quicker to label atrocities as genocides, we would have fewer atrocities.
