As both a certified CAR GUY and an economist-ish, I cannot imagine a headline more designed to drive me, personally, insane. This "flying car" technology is neither new nor novel. It is not practical and would not sell. Let me tell a story of actually useful car tech that never made it to market.

I think we need to update this to apply to cheap appliances and car parts that have to be constantly replaced, we could spend money on good and beneficial things, or we could spend uselessly it to constantly replace things that ought not to have been broken.

I am in Cap Haitien interviewing people deported from the United States. I have been doing this kind of work for almost a decade and it literally does not get more dire than this. People have lost everything they built in the U.S. and are terrified and have no place to go or way to live.

AI tech corporations are feigning concern for the “dangers” of AI so that they get to be the ones who write the regulations for AI and I cannot emphasis enough how bad of an idea that is. They will do nothing to address the real problems for society created by LLMs and generative images and videos.

Because it’s nonsense. The “ai will kill us all” is just a means to discredit or downplay legit criticism of ai, it eats up all the media oxygen so we can’t talk about the problems with ai in schools and business, the environmental harm of data centers, the theft of art/writing for training ai, etc.
