Britain feels broken because it is being held back. People feel powerless, and they can't hold the powerful to account. Liberal Democrats want to change our politics so that, together, we can fix our country.

Parties that campaign on British sovereignty are taking large sums from donors abroad. William Wallace said the Representation of the People Bill will not close every loophole, but Lib Dems will push for changes to limit donations and campaign spending.

A party can spend unlimited sums on direct mail before May's local elections, as long as the leaflets avoid naming the candidate. Mark Pack told Times Radio the spending rules are too lax to protect local democracy. @markpackuk.bsky.social

Unlimited donations from unaccountable sources are a threat to democratic integrity. We're calling on the Government to introduce emergency legislation to cap political donations. Last week we raised this in the Commons. This week we've chased the minister again, because this cannot wait.

After ten years of the Conservatives’ Brexit experiment, the British public have had enough. Nigel Farage pocketed a £5 million ‘reward’ for the damage he’s caused, while the rest of us are paying for it dearly. It’s time to end the chaos and fix our broken relationship with Europe.

As temperatures soar outside of summer and extreme weather events become more common, it's clear we need a plan to keep vulnerable people safe and keep our country running.
Our Plan to Beat the Heat:

Heat-proof the NHS and ensure all care homes are air-conditoned.

Finally deliver the Emergency Home Upgrade insulation plan.

Open communty 'cold hubs' - free spaces with air conditioning

Invest in climate-resilient
infrastructure to prepare for the future
