Ministers pointed to the AI Security Institute when they rejected an AI kill switch. But it has no legal power to force anything. Sarah Teather pressed the government today to fix that, and to use its G20 presidency to push for a binding global agreement on AI risk.

What the Conservative's did today was outrageous and I am pleased that they were roundly defeated. This was third reading on the Financial Services & Markets Bill. We normally only tidy up at this stage. The Conservatives forced a vote to try and defeat government concessions which were agreed.

The Chancellor promised good growth in every postcode this morning. This afternoon Labour and Conservative peers voted down the amendment built to deliver it, which would have made banks lend back into the communities they take deposits from, or fund a local lender that will.
