The BBC’s Spencer/Diana/Charles story still running since Wednesday is little short of madness. It’s programme promotion, book PR, gossip and shit stirring. Nothing more. What has been ignored to keep this crap running? It’s shameful.

The Oxford comma has its place. However, a second comma in this case would create a clause that implied Sylvia Plath was a New York vigilante. It would be far better to rewrite the sentence.

Yes! It was my granny’s book. She gave it to me in the 1970s because I got it out to read every time I was at her house.

This painting of Pygmalion and Galatea by Gérôme stopped me in my tracks when I first saw it in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I gazed, mesmerised, for what seemed like hours. Many years later, I still see something new whenever I look at the poster I bought that day.
The statue of Galatea comes to life, in fulfilment of Pygmalion’s wish for a wife as beautiful as the sculpture he created. She and the sculptor embrace; her upper body is flesh and lower body is still marble. It is viewed from behind the couple and a virtually transparent Cupid hovers over them with his bow and arrow. In the studio we see Pygmalion’s earlier attempts, some of which are grotesque.

It is quite strange to listen to political coverage currently, even from mainstream sources, and remember that net migration has quartered since its peak, and is likely to fall to Cameron's tens of thousands target next year and this has made no difference to the discourse.

📚"Covers designed by folk who didn't bother to read the book" Episode 3: Rudyard Kipling’s “Kim” (1901). Colonial adventure novel about an orphaned Irish boy who meets a Tibetan lama in Lahore and together they are drawn into the “great game” of imperial espionage. Nice shoes, babe.
Book cover featuring only the torso and legs of a person in khaki short-shorts and very pretty red heels with green and red tattoos.

Just think, if voters had gone for Ed Miliband in 2015, we would still be in the European Community. Imagine how different the past 10 years might’ve been. And then remember what a mess Labour has had to take on, because they didn’t.
