Again, the idiocy of threatening the sovereignty our closest & most important ally & squandering the greatest strategic advantage we have in the entire world should have been an immediate presidency-ending scandal. But then, so should all of the other things, too, if we were a more serious country.

Heard the latest news from the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA collaboration? We detected the collision of the most massive pair of black holes so far: #GW231123 weighing in at ~137 + ~103 times the mass of the Sun! So to celebrate, here’s a handy chart ✨ Just how chonky are these black holes? 🤔
An infographic titled "How BIG are the BLACK HOLES we find with GRAVITATIONAL WAVES?" by @astronerdika. The graphic displays a range of black hole masses detected via gravitational waves, categorized by their size in solar masses (mass of the Sun) and represented with playful cat-like black hole illustrations.

The categories from left to right are:

1. "<5 times the mass of the Sun"
- Labeled "smol"
- Very small black hole illustration represented by a curled up black cat
- Arrow pointing left: "THIS WAY TO NEUTRON STARS"
- Example: "Big component of GW230529 (~3.6 times the mass of the Sun)"

2. "~10 times the mass of the Sun"
- Labeled "basic"
- Slightly larger black hole cat illustration
- Caption: "LOTS OF BLACK HOLES"

3. "~35–45 times the mass of the Sun"
- Labeled "hefty"
- Bigger black hole cat illustration
- Continues the idea of a populated range

4. ">60 times the mass of the Sun"
- Labeled "chonky"
- Large black hole cat illustration
- Caption: "FORBIDDEN TERRITORY? (can these even be made from the collapse of star cores?!)"
- Example: "Components of GW190521 (~85 + ~66 times the mass of the Sun)"

5. ">100 times the mass of the Sun"
- Labeled "oh lawd"
- Very large, curled-up black hole cat illustration
- Arrow pointing right: "THIS WAY TO INTERMEDIATE MASS BLACK HOLES"
- Example: "Components of GW231123 (~137 + ~103 times the mass of the Sun)"

Below the categories is a stylized black curve representing the inferred population of black holes detected by LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA. It rises sharply in the "basic" range and falls off toward the "hefty" and "chonky" ranges, with a note reading:
"this curve is an artistic representation of the black hole population inferred by LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA."

This infographic draws from the “Chonky Cat” meme.

Ozzy on pizza:
❝I thought America was fabulous. Take pizza for example. For years I’d been thinking, I wish someone would invent a new kind of food. In England it was always egg and chips, sausage and chips, pie and chips … anything and chips. After a while it just got boring, y’know? But you couldn’t exactly order a shaved Parmesan and rocket salad in Birmingham in the early ’70s. If it didn’t come out of a deep-fat fryer, no one knew what the fuck it was. But then, in New York, I discovered pizza. It blew my mind wide fucking open. I would buy ten or twenty slices a day. And then, when I realized you could buy a great big pizza all for yourself, I started ordering them wherever we went. I couldn’t wait to get back home and tell all my mates: ‘There’s this incredible new thing. It’s American and it’s called pizza. It’s like bread, but it’s better than any bread you’ve tasted in your life.’ I even tried to recreate a New York pizza for Thelma once. I made some dough, then I got all these cans of beans and pilchards and olives and shit and put them on top—it must have been about 15 quid’s worth of gear—but after ten minutes it just came dribbling out of the oven. It was like someone had been sick in there. Thelma just looked at it and went, ‘I don’t think I like pizza, John.’ She never called me Ozzy, my first wife.❞

1860: "your only social leveller"
I refer to the Neapolitan pizza. "The pizza!" I hear your readers exclaim; "what do you mean by the pizza?" Well, the pizza is a favourite Neapolitan delicacy, which is only made and eaten between sunset and two or three in the morning; and it must be baked in five minutes in the oven; at the very moment when it is ordered it is pulled out of the oven and served up piping hot... The pizza baker takes a ball of dough, kneads it, and spreads it out with the palm of his hand, giving it about half the thickness of a muffin, then pours over it mozzerella, which is nothing more than rich cream, beaten almost like a cream cheese; then he adds grated cheese, herbs, and tomato, puts the cake - which made after this fashion is termed the pizza - just for five minutes into the oven.... The pizza cake is your only social leveller, for in the pizza shops rich and poor harmoniously congregate.

THE GOVERNOR GENERAL’S OFFICE HAS ONE JOB. ONE.
Tweet says “#GGSimon was honoured to have an audience with His Majesty King Charles III at @RideauHall as part of Their Majesties’ Royal Visit to Canada.

These ongoing conversations deepen the meaningful bond between our nations.  🇬🇧 🇨🇦”

The problem here is that this is not about bonds between Canada and Britain as Charles is here as King of Canada. The Governor General’s office should presumably know this as the Governor General is the representative of the Crown in Canada. In other words, they are presenting Charles as foreign. Which you are entitled to have feelings about but the GG is not!
