Indeed @alexbozikovic.bsky.social nails it. The 'Premier Ford Jets at YTZ' fantasy plan would've had a Super-NIMBY effect, freezing Toronto's ongoing waterfront revitalization, killing housing development, strangling parks, and undermining waterfront transit investments.

What if I told you a single decision being made right now could change Toronto's waterfront forever?…

A sage take from @jaypitter.bsky.social "Street Restoration" - inspired by her apt turn of phrase, if you were to ask what #Waterfront4all supports, we'd say urban Waterfront Restoration. To whit: Vastly expanding a waterfront airport ain't restoration. #Toronto #NoJetsTO

Does replacing parking with bike-lanes hurt restaurant business? Of course not, as this new peer-reviewed STUDY of 15 years of Montreal data showed. ACTUALLY, downtown experienced significant restaurant growth after bike lanes were installed. @momentummag.bsky.social momentummag.com/do-bike-lane...

Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users. ALL ROAD USERS. What about painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them. Via @usa.streetsblog.org @nyc.streetsblog.org

Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikes and people in cars and on foot, a new study of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.

Greetings @brenttoderian.bsky.social. We at #Waterfront4all here in Toronto have great appreciation for your work & enlightened urbanism. Wondering if you might have a thought on Ontario Premier Ford's jet expansion notions for our waterfront airport vis a vis 25+ years of waterfront revitalization?

Some Toronto people have been wondering what a jet airport serving 8 to 10 million passengers would look like. Yes, that's Premier Ford's vision for #BillyBishop. Well wonder no more ⬇️ #NoJetsTO @environmentaldefence.ca
Edmonton International Airport YEG. Serving 8+ million passengers per year. This is the scale of the jet expansion Ontario Premier Ford is proposing for Billy Bishop Toronto Centre Airport

Another rain day in December. No we're not imagining it. #Toronto #winter is milder. As this Star article reports, @climatecentral.bsky.social has the data to demonstrate that our city has lost 13 freezing days (days below 0 Celsius) in the past 10 years. #climatechange

In urban environments, such as #urban #waterfronts, often it's the 'little' things that make a difference. #Toronto #Harbour's many #dockwalls are crumbling. Bureaucratic intertia & unclear lines of responsibility are letting this happen. www.waterfrontforall.ca/the_harbour_...

At our Holiday Season Board gathering, we're talking new visions for the #Toronto #Waterfront. Let's challenge assumptions. Let's bring more housing, more park space, more access to our waterfront in 2025.
