Just the first book has a ton! Bioengineered wasps, hovercrafts, forcefields, way better medicine that can save someone with his guts hanging out off the top of my head. I think it's a really interesting to see a sci fi world from the perspective of someone who doesn't try to understand it

The output is a debug trace? I expect it to perform poorly on a new game, but the hard part of testing is creating a new game. It is probably good enough to solve any constraint based game.

What debug traces? I also wouldn't expect it to write a program lol. As an LLM it is "reasoning" like a teacher explaining the overall strategy. Especially for this kind of problem, I expect a lot of this kind of training data.

I'm just a programmer thinking how I would implement a solver for this and I would do pretty much the same thing that heuristic Sodoku solvers do. (simplified version!) Each square stores valid options, and once there is only one left lock it in and update all other squares that see it.

It's pretty complicated and I don't know if it has a name. It seems very similar to a sodoku solver. It isn't encoded directly in the LLM, there are just enough examples of people correctly solving similar problems in its training set.
