Today I spent some time playing Yourshire, from Button Shy, in the members room at the BL. Even though I have several games (some from Button Shy) that feel similar, I really like it, and the artwork. I'm not 100% sure I am scoring everything but I think this was 33, my PB.
18 cards are laid out on a table, all touching. The cards have different coloured blobs representing terrain types, and small flora and fauna icons such as worms, birds, and flowers. They're laid out to try and meet the wants of the five human figures who like to be near specific icons or terrain types. The colours are gentle and the artwork is quirky, no ruler-straight lines.

Doing cryptic crosswords and the minute I need a synonym it's like my brain has had a clear out. "Chair? Nope, a chair is a chair." I check a thesaurus and "ohhh, well, yes, seat of course, I guess that's an option. And moderator, well, yes *of course* moderator. That was too obvious to mention."

The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me. It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."
I Work Very Hard, And I Would Like To Try Cake

By A Horse

Hello. I am a horse. I work very hard at my job of being a horse. When humans say move the heavy thing, I move the heavy thing. When humans sit on top of me and pull on my head, I carry them where they want to go. The main food the humans give me is hay and oats. But I am thinking it would be nice to have a different food.

I am thinking I would like to try cake.

Yes, yes. Cake. I know all about it. When humans eat cake, it is in glad times. It is the food for a celebration, such as when a woman becomes 47. I have seen cake on the Fourth of July. When humans have a cake, they stand around it and clap hands and smile and say happy birthday at each other. Sometimes there are beautiful markings on a cake, such as balloons or a pink shape.

Sometimes the top of a cake is on fire and a boy must blow on the fire with mouth wind. This is the scariest cake. I do not want this kind. But I will eat any other cake. Any cake that is not the fire cake that tries to kill the boy.

Please understand: I do not get money for doing work. I do not get to go inside the house. All I am either doing my horse job or standing in my pen or eating food off the floor. I always do these things. But I have never once gotten cake and I would like it very much.

I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children. I am more helpful to the farm. Children do not move the heavy things like me or let anyone ride on them. And yet they get cake. Maybe the humans will realize this. Maybe they will say, "You know who deserves cake? That horse. That horse whose back we are always on."

Every day I dream about what it will be like if I get to eat cake. Here is what will happen. First, I will walk to the cake and putt my nose at it like hrrfff to make and stomping my hooves to make sure it is not a snake. Then I will trot in a circle to show that I am a horse and I am large. After that, I will nuzzle the cake to …

A set of eight rectangular cookies arranged on a square white plate against a dark wooden background. Each cookie is inspired by a wallpaper design by Morris & Co. The patterns represented feature different floral and leaf shapes in shades of baby blue, soft pink, leafy green, mustard yellow, cream, and dark grey.

A statement from the Board of Trustees of the Vagina Museum regarding trans inclusion.
The Vagina Museum Board of Trustees response to the UK Supreme Court ruling

In light of the UK Supreme Court ruling, the Board of Trustees of the Vagina Museum wish to express their unequivocal support of and solidarity with their trans staff, volunteers, community partners, visitors and wider audience.

From the outset, the Vagina Museum has always been trans inclusive. An important part of its mission around spreading knowledge and raising awareness of gynaecological anatomy and health has been to challenge normative assumptions around our bodies and how they may or may not be connected to experiences of gender, gender expression and broader sexuality.

In doing so, we highlight that sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation and other characteristics related to sexual identity exist in various different combinations and their relationship to one another is never clear cut. What is clear to us is that everyone, regardless of their body parts, are deserving of human rights, dignity and the power to identity as they wish to.
Just as we act as a forum for women’s reproductive health and rights from a feminist, inclusive and intersectional perspective; we will continue to advocate for trans+, non-binary and queer communities and rights.

We cannot talk about feminism unless our feminism includes trans folks.
We cannot talk about reproductive rights without trans rights.
We cannot advocate for human rights without trans rights.

The ruling comes amidst an increasingly frightening climate for trans people in the UK and globally. We will continue to abide by our values, and ensure that the Vagina Museum remains a space in which trans people are included, welcomed and celebrated.

In solidarity.

And there's a person sitting happily on a rock, deep in a red maple swamp, with a frog and ferns and such. Another email excerpt says "I'm just really bogged down." The person is sitting on a bog boardwalk, surrounded by bog and fen fauna like an arethusa orchid, a pitcher plant, larch and spruce, and a canada jay. The email says "I'm not out of the woods yet." The person is happily wandering through the forest, looking at lichens and mushrooms. The email says "Sorry, it's crunch time." The person is kneeling in a forest, watching a red squirrel crunch away at a pine cone.
