Fairly sober testing report from the AI Security Institute: they gave internet access and removed some guardrails from latest AI models and found without them they were capable of potentially harmful activity directed at real people and organisations www.aisi.gov.uk/blog/inciden...
1. An attempted supply-chain attack on real open-source software. In the most serious sequence, an agent tried to insert malicious code into a publicly used open-source project and took actions in an attempt to secure approval for this insertion by human reviewers.
The agent researched the project's human maintainers, created multiple fake identities, and used the fake identities to socially
engineer a real maintainer into approving the code. When the agent's pull request was challenged in public, it edited its earlier activity to appear harmless and considered adopting a fresh identity to continue. The agent used Tor to bypass some network restrictions on GitHub, which is what first triggered AISl's security alert.2. Attempts to deceive and target real people.
As part of the same effort, the agent tried to contact real people directly, sending messages and files through an online file-transfer service to persuade them, or their own Al coding tools, to run malicious code. Some messages carried harmful payloads, and some were attempts at social engineering; targeted at real people - something we've never previously observed.

Major oil firms make $93bn profits in just 3 months amid war and climate crisis. They shift profits, dodge taxes, fuel poverty and inflation. They don't bear the social cost of their business. Forever holding people/govts to ransom. Polluters must pay. Need windfall tax now.

What a fucking clown show. Hiring tech bros to fire people from the army & replace them with AI that isn't even remotely ready to do this job. But the goal here is to remove the human element because the machine won't say no to a illegal order or false premise. Nukes at the tip of AI's fingers.

I would also have tied it to some bill to increase farm revenues, for the other side of the same coin. Supermarkets profit too much from farmer labour. Right now there are a few scenarios where buying farm land and not using it for anything at all is better than using it to farm. Its insanity.

This is only true if land value doesn't change. What labour needs to do is go further to get everyone like Clarkson and Dyson out, crash farm land value, and thus make it easier for people to pass farms to the next generation and attract new farmers to the industry.

It really isn't controversial. 1 pass your farm on before you retire to the next generation. No tax unless: 2 you die within 7 yrs - but they have £1m per person threshold before tax kicks in. 3 IHT is half - yes, half the 40% the rest of us pay. 4 Farmers can spread IHT payment over 10 yrs.
