This is simply untenable. There is no way forward with media and political classes captured by the right. Every time someone commits a crime you have to pray it's not an undesirable or it's purge time, then when it turns out to be themselves again they just shrug and wait for the next one.

In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.

The #treatlerites phenomenon is real… From r/temuthings: “I’m angry because he’s taken away one of the very few things I had left to enjoy in life…” “…Now I work a job I despise and cant afford anything at all as even a small consolation for it.”

Hey you know how people made the Tesla brand radioactively toxic and crashed its entire corporate structure? You can do that with authoritarian brutality and with neoliberal oppression and exploitation. You chase these motherfuckers from society until all that’s left is something real and better.

Walz: I think they hate public education because it’s easier to run an authoritarian government if you don’t have a population that knows.

But ultimately the blame lies with the Democratic Party leaders and the party consultants who lost an election against an authoritarian dipshit in spite of receiving millions in donations. The “they are weird” slogan energized people; the shift right on the border and promising Biden 2.0 did not

They were really onto something with the "weird" thing. Then the Democratic consultants convinced them it wasn't serious enough. Blame every single thing on them, highlight every failure however tenuous, and relentlessly point out what weird-ass humans they are.

remember when they actually struck gold when they called republicans weird and republicans were actually freaking out about it, and the message was actually working but then the Democratic Consultants got upset and told them to stop calling republicans weird, so they stopped and never did it again?

Which is part of why Tim Walz was so refreshing. He was the first person since 1980 to appear on either the top or bottom of a Democratic ticket who wasn't a lawyer. Until the lawyer-brained consultants gagged him because they thought "weird" wasn't SrsPolitics™.

Maybe I'm a fool, but I honestly do think that this tactic can be defeated. But not the way the Democratic Party has been doing it. tl;dr - my God, we need some better comms. It's why "they're weird" worked so well until the consultants killed it... it's language! Communication.

That was the pivot. Away from Walz and "weird" (both freaked out the consultants) and back as usual to chasing their precious centrists You could feel all the joy deflate. We had like two weeks of playing to Democratic voters and then back to the same loser energy

Don't blame focus groups for how Democrats reacted. Focus groups were quite clear that weird would have worked as a strategy. It was Democratic consultants rejecting data in favor of what they wanted that caused weird to end.

One of these days someone in the Democratic Party will try turning out the base rather than chasing mythical ‘swing voters.’ I think Walz’s ‘weird’ campaign was good. Too bad the Party’s consultants turned away from that.

4.5. "We're not going back" is a great, punchy refutation of MAGA, with overtones of pre-Dobbs America. Shoulda been the campaign's official slogan. And "weird" was working so very very well. Sadly, Democratic campaign consultants hate things that work well, for reasons I've never understood.

We HAD our messaging. Calling those ghouls fucking weird WORKED. Then we stopped because some septuagenarian Democratic consultants said we might not win suburban white women…and then we proceeded to not do that anyway

In 2024, The New Republic and Proof wrote a ton about Yarvin. Now—thankfully—everyone is interested. He's the leader of a cult at least one of the three co-presidents is in, along with the VP and a top lieutenant of yet another co-president. America needs to know how dangerous these cultists are.
