For context, this is one hundred ninety-two thousand, five-year biomedical research grants. More than five years of complete funding for the entirety of the NIH for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, blindness, epilepsy, infectious diseases, etc… An entire generation of scientists.

Who do I know at UCSF or Berkeley that would be interested in taking a high school student to shadow for lab work? Kid is interested in bioscience, and lives fine detail work.

*No context*: while in academia, to all new students joining my lab, I would carry a tradition from my grad lab - talk about fold change vs fold difference (percentage) to understand directionality in movement of values. Just saying, perhaps this needs to be done also to adults with authority.

Hi, are you an academic biology lab in the Boston area? I am a lab manager at a local biotech and I will be getting rid of a lot consumables in the near future (as will many of my colleagues, unfortunately). If you would be interested in free consumables, please reach out to me!

How do cells sense electric fields? How quickly can they respond? We show, in a collaboration with Nathan Belliveau and Julie Theriot, that this is limited by the physics of how proteins diffuse. Here's the @bppbseminar.bsky.social seminar I gave on this work: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TDX...

Do you use human primary cells in vitro for your studies? Human tissues? Ever wondered how well the cells in vitro map to in vivo? Please check out our data here doi.org/10.1038/s415... this may have importance when studies don't translate well to pre clinical or clinical models. #glaucoma
