What's the difference between:

A: Transwomen
B: Women

Let the "tolerant" crowd explain this one. I'll grab
popcorn.

Trans is an adjective. It's a descriptor. Like tall or fast
or smart. A trans woman is just a woman who was
assigned male at birth and then transitioned at some
point in her life. Just like a tall woman is a woman
who is taller than the average woman. It's just an
adjective. It's really not that complicated.

For instance you are a stupid, bigoted man. Whereas
I am a cool and nice man. We're both men. I'm just
kind of a better type of man.

I want to see empty exhibits in British museums, that contain only the story about what they once contained, and why they had to be sent home. The space would be no less profound for me www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Oh thank you ❤️ I didn't get to the Herakleion museum this year (I've been lucky enough to visit before) and I just love the octopus vases.

For #WorldOctopusDay here's a vase in the Agios Nickolas museum on Crete this summer
Cream coloured round vase from the Minoan era with an elongated black octopus on it (although only 6 legs are visible) it has amazing googly eyes

being so fr when I say that transmisogyny has put feminism back like 50 years

seravph
what i thought we had distanced ourselves from was the reduction of women to vaginas and wombs and the ability to bear children. i thought we had progressed past 'dresses are for women and pants are for men. i thought we progressed past the idea that someone is less of a woman if she does not adhere strictly to beauty standards. i thought we progressed past the idea that naturally being comfortable adhering to highly feminine standards is vulgar. but i (sarcastically) guess no one could have predicted that trans-exclusive feminism would be the downfall of all the progress we've made

Given your love of the Gang (and of good historical literature) I presume you've read Joseph O'Connor's wonderful Shadowplay?
Paperback copy of Shadowplay by Joseph O'Connor with a grainy black and white image of a woman in Victorian dress, possibly on a night time street or a stage, illuminated by moonlight or a spotlight.

Very true! Wasn't the whole charm of nick names for family meals and traditions precisely that only those in the know got it? Not craving approval - nor necessarily trying to exclude those not in the know - just commemorating silly family traditions/booze ups.

We used to have a meal of "dips and nibbles," any cold left overs with maybe some hummus or salsa and sliced cucumber and carrots. Alas, due to a possibly-drunken spoonerism, this meal is now always known as "nips and dibbles." Apologies for adding more bullshit to your timeline.

Alas a lot of her stuff is out of print (one of my copies is an ex library one) some was put on ebook a few years ago but I can't see them now. I ended up reading Aphra Ben's plays after The Vizard Mask to stay in that world a little bit longer!

Thank you for the recommendation - 99p in Kindle at the moment, but I'm tempted by the hardback... Have you ever read any Diana Norman? The Vizard Mask has Jeffreys and the Assizes in it. As I also love Rose Tremain there's a chance you'll like Diana.

Creepy clown doll with red nose and half white face and hair like Boris Johnson, wearing a purple jacket and yellow cravat. It is sitting next to a figure made of straw playing pan pipes over a carved pot. It has eyes and a nose but no mouth.
