A football player says "glad you're here in the USA for football season, Junji Ito. Let me show you how to throw a perfect spiral." The football plater throws the ball. Ito is mesmerized. Spirals appear in his eyes and he sweats profusely. We zoom in on his face in an extreme closeup as the intensity of his terror increases.

FIRST RELEASE OF THE DAY: CLAUDE OPUS 5.5!!! Supposed improvements on communication, it costs 20% less than Opus 5 at $4 per input, $20 for out, and $0.20 for cache read. It also uses fewer tokens and costs 40% less than Opus 5 on 'typical workloads'. It seems to beat F5.1 on most benchmarks

PETER THIEL CALLED IT.

The Antichrist wouldn’t build the doomsday machine.
This clip aged terrifyingly well.

Peter Thiel predicted in June, 26, 2025 exactly what is happening right now with Anthropic, Coxon and the AI-safety landscape.

“The way the Antichrist would take over the world is you talk about Armageddon non-stop, you talk about existential risk non-stop.”

The 'Antichrist' wouldn’t seize power by creating an AI apocalypse, but by CONVINCING everyone that the apocalypse was coming and then offering safety in exchange for CONTROL.

A must watch.sacks RT

EA AI safetyism increasingly looks like Marxism-Leninism for the algorithmic age.

The old vanguard claimed privileged knowledge of the inevitable course of History. The new one claims privileged knowledge of the probabilistic course of Humanity.

Both use an elaborate intellectual framework to reach the same political conclusion: a small group of enlightened people must constrain everyone else for their own good.

That has never lead to anything except monumental human suffering.

Touching some grass today ❤️🌲 @thedrawplay.com
Dozens of thin white cascades fan out over a broad wall of dark rock covered in bright green moss, framed by dense evergreen forest. A larger chute of whitewater pours down the right side past a fallen log, feeding a rocky creek strewn with driftwood in the foreground.A rustic wooden footbridge with log railings crosses a small creek on a forest trail, its deck made of two weathered planks bordered by packed dirt and needles. Tall thin conifers and leafy green undergrowth surround the trail on all sides.A tall two-tiered waterfall plunges down a mossy basalt cliff into a dark pool, with an upper set of falls visible spilling through the trees above. Ferns and evergreen branches frame the gorge, and a hiker at the bottom right edge of the pool gives a sense of scale.@Drawplaydave, a bearded man in glasses, a Portland Trail Blazers cap, and a red-and-black Adidas track jacket sits at an outdoor picnic table, looking down at a black dog (Luna) gazing up at him hopefully. On the table in front of them, a metal tray holds the last few slices of a veggie pizza with olives, onions, and peppers.

Bailey, you built such a cool thing! People having strong opinions about it just means a lot of people used it & liked it, even if it’s not perfect (speaking as an Electron maintainer, lol 😅). Really sorry you’re dealing with this, but I hope it doesn’t stop you in the future!

We are happy to report that the tracks north of Portland are opening! Tomorrow, on August 19, all Amtrak Cascades trains resume normal service, except Train 500 which will resume on Thursday, August 20. Let your summer travel plans resume. We’ll drive! 💚🤎🤍
A lightly cloud-filtered blue sky is reflected in the water of Puget Sound in this photograph as an Amtrak Cascades train glides along the shore next to a hillside covered heavily by evergreen trees. Some of the San Juan Islands can be seen in the distance as the sun peeks through from the top center of the image.
