one of the things I like about being a game programmer is you have to make a million little decisions how does A talk to B? how do the physics behave here? how many times per second does the entire world get destroyed and rebuilt? AI takes away these decisions. It makes coding less intentional

A technical guide I wrote on reddit about how to set up a local Archipelago server with Link's Awakening and Metroid Fusion

The user who asked for help replied to my guide with their struggles but eventual success. They express their appreciation, and I reply in kind.

i understand if people are pressured to use LLMs for work. you gotta eat, it's hierarchical, usage may be monitored, i get it. but if you bring that shit home it's different! that actually is a personal endorsement. you don't have to use your own projects to normalize unethical corporate projects.

I was really cooking in 2013 with this. There's an extra 8th note inserted into the beat between every 2nd and 3rd bar because it just felt right. Those unexpected choices are one of my favorite things when making music. I have no idea how it sounds to other people.

My favorite challenges in coding have come from making games. I love going in head-first, even when I know it's something that has surely been written about plenty, and even when I know I'll come up with a pattern that already exists. Any use of AI means diminishing that which I enjoy so much.

I love making little web-based experiments/games. It's like my favorite thing. I really don't love seeing one that was "~80% AI generated" blow up here and be reposted on my timeline by an indie game dev I hold in high regard. You can make these things in your spare time without AI, I promise.
