@brettcodes.bsky.social's forum has been a wonderful place to be when I start getting that hopeless feeling in other online spaces. I wanted to share this comment I saw which responds to the "it's here to stay" argument that people treat as an axiom. humancrafted.discourse.group/t/feeling-li...

I lack the words to express my hatred for the “It’s here to stay, It’s inevitable, Use it or get left behind” line of “argumentation” that is so often repeated. Technological progression isn’t some fundamental force of the universe, it’s one driven by humans and as such humans determine the fate of any given technology. Where are the NFTs I was told were inevitable? How are those doing? It’s people with an agenda just trying to beat you over the head with it until you’re too exhausted to fight back.

Reddit's all right cuz I can spontaneously decide to fixate on writing a detailed guide for a random stranger, and hopefully future strangers who find it.

A technical guide I wrote on reddit about how to set up a local Archipelago server with Link's Awakening and Metroid Fusion

The user who asked for help replied to my guide with their struggles but eventual success. They express their appreciation, and I reply in kind.

Just normal comments that humans write in their code.

Code comment that reads "an armed "are you sure?" stands down the moment you touch anything else — capture phase, so even taps whose events never bubble out (stack strips, menu items) still count"

The jump rope minigame in the first WarioWare had these wild tempo shifts and I always loved how wonky the music sounded as a result. It definitely inspired this track I made in 2014.

I was really cooking in 2013 with this. There's an extra 8th note inserted into the beat between every 2nd and 3rd bar because it just felt right. Those unexpected choices are one of my favorite things when making music. I have no idea how it sounds to other people.
