PhD finally conferred! It's over!!!! Spent the better part of my twenties studying while juggling part-time research work. Nice to finally be able to relax. Excited to move on to my next phase of life 😀 But first, Eternal Weekend @ Yokohama next week!

I like this paper: not only does it review of all the reasons standardized coefficients are bad, actually, It also then goes on to show how test statistics can be used as measures of unique contribution/ effect size! - something that just sounds so so wrong! #stats doi.org/10.1080/0003...

Excellent post on the lack of empirical support for stereotype threat, from someone deeply involved in the research. Also, importantly, "stereotype threat isn't real" != "stereotypes are not threatening." These are very different claims, but the former is often taken to mean the latter.

Some advice that helped me as an ECR. 1. Don't define yourself by productivity. 2. Avoid comparisons to others. 3. If you still can't help it (bc research loves metrics), remember: everyone has their own pace, their own life circumstances, goals, opportunities, etc. 4. Go on more walks🚶‍♂️
