tbd @tumescentnumpty.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Because defensive players are taught to do exactly what 49 does. Slow to release the player, "accidentally" hook his leg while getting up, "stumble" around the football. Don't "impede" them, just become clumsy all the sudden. Non-zero chance the Giants make the playoffs because of it. 030
tbd @tumescentnumpty.bsky.social · 12/10/2026No. Still a coaching fail in that it apparently wasn't impressed on Daniels that there wasn't a timeout but as an offensive player in those situations you are taught to get your ass up right away, *without leaving the ball on the field*, and getting it directly to the ref as quick as possible. 160

tbd @tumescentnumpty.bsky.social · 11/10/2026I'm guessing they probably barked something like "shift" which the ref ruled tried to simulate the snap count. There's a bunch of stuff lumped in under 'illegal stemming' but the movement here should be fine. Still a terrible rule. As far as I'm concerned shouldn't be called unless very egregious. 000

tbd @tumescentnumpty.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Throwing with anticipation is the end point of reading a defense. Not being able to is what leads to sub 2:1 td to int ratios and a stupid amount of fumbles from sacks at the next level. 000
tbd @tumescentnumpty.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Oh yeah, Fields' college tape blows Arch's out of the water, but his inability to read defenses was there if you looked for it Arch doesn't have the next level running ability, strength in the pocket, or imo arm that Fields has that allowed Fields to persist in the league despite it. 100
tbd @tumescentnumpty.bsky.social · 11/10/2026His "very impressive throws" are often because he's off schedule from holding the ball for too long or because they're against significantly inferior opponents.
