While IndiaSky is small, can someone help me connect with a photographer/videographer in #Kolkata. Need a connect with an equipment vendor (lights/camera) - personal recommendation. Might also need a videographer to help shoot B-roll.

I knew this piece about Neil Gaiman was in the works, and still, I felt sick reading it. TW: rape, abuse, coercion, and child sex abuse.

Having watched GODZILLA MINUS ONE and rewatched SHOPLIFTERS and MONSTER last weekend at the Japanese Film Fest, I think Sakura Andô might be our subtlest interpreter of ambivalent, besieged, perseverant relationships to motherhood. She's painting with colors no one else has. 📽️

A woman leans against a low wall and half smiles as she watches a young girl who is focused on some task.

A woman in an office chair stares with suspicion and alertness at someone, ignoring an offered cup of tea.

A woman in a kimono stares just off camera with a knitted brow.

Watched All We Imagine As Light again, this time in my hometown Kanpur. It still feels magical and tugs your heart strings. Kani Kusruti is mesmerising to watch on screen. Don’t remember the last time someone moved me like her. Take a bow, Payal Kapadia. May you soar higher.

THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIG has been censored in India. Flag burning scenes have been removed in political censorship. #CBFCWatch #desiwatch

Cutlist for SEED OF THE SACRED FIG from Indian censor board:

1. Inserted smoking warning in scenes with smoking.
...
3. Deleted the word "bastard" from the English subtitles.
4. Blurred visuals of flag burning.

This is the state of governance in this country, where govts are on overdrive to their own image-building rather than uplift people's lives. What a fucking apathetic, heartless country. What fucking priorities are these even

It's such a weak year for Supporting Actress that it really kinda blows my mind that not even critics groups are pushing at all for Joan Chen in Didi. Remarkable work by someone who's been doing this a long time and has yet to fully be celebrated

Got a scam call from Bahrain number saying RBI is blocking all my bank accounts, some guy then joined and asked my name. I said its Michael Jackson. He replied "teri maa ki c*** Michael Jackson" and hung up. Jah babah. Can no one else be named Michael Jackson? Is there only one Virat Kohli?

"Isn't it amazing that we, the people, have pulled this off together" This is how a functioning democracy should be, where the govt and politicians work for "we the people", and not keep oppressing and keeping them hostage with pennies.

Bluesky needs to ban Jesse Singal. He’s a notorious bad-faith actor who we *know* uses social media to harass and attack vulnerable people. Letting Singal remain here is a violation of Bluesky’s own stated policies, IMO. He should not be allowed to once again work the refs.

We can't see Interstellar, we can't see Timothée Chalamet's new release because film business in India is masturbating over Pushpa 2! Most of the multiplexes are in fact green. Empty.

Vikramaditya Motwane, via his Instagram. The theatrical release scene here is rotten. Pushpa 2 has arm twisted theatres to exclusively play it so they can show inflated BO numbers. Totally shithole and corrupt country. #desiwatch

This photo came up on FB from a handle I do not follow. Of course Meta doesn't find targeted hate towards women problematic. Working women aren't automatically entitled to alimony in this country. It is based on multiple factors, including the judge's discretion.

The headline, and the reality. Pushpa 2 released in 1245 theatres, while Interstellar had an IMAX only release in 165 screens. This is the state of journalism from a major outlet. Even the box office figure on headline is wrong. Anything goes in journalism these days. Its gone to the shitters.
