One of the mistakes BJP keeps repeating is its attempt to shame CJP for drinking or smoking. These - for the lack of better phrase - Gandhian moral principles are irrelevant currency for Gen Z and Gen Alpha that largely grew up on Sam Levinson’s Euphoria.

Back when twitter used to be good, you could tweet something like: “hey, I miss watching 80s and 90s Hong Kong action cinema. Do you guys have recommendations for me? Something akin to Armour of god or city Hunter” and then you’d have hundreds of enthusiastic replies from folks who love such films

Reading a blog I wrote a year ago and it’s so obvious that I was going through grad school applications during that period—it’s filled with American English spellings. I have come a long way since then. Stopped applying to grad schools abroad.

Finding it difficult to watch tv or films these days. I’m looking to pick up some books, probably, at least one fiction and one non-fiction. In fiction, im thinking Katabasis. For non fiction, I haven’t zeroed down a book but thematically, I’m thinking Churchill. Recommendations are welcome.

I reviewed the book 'If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies.' The central theme of the book tries to project that it is architecture agnostic while relying on an architecture-specific scenario. Though I largely empathise with the message. open.substack.com/pub/themonol...

One of the weirdest ritual that the urban middle class Indians have developed over the last decade or so is the practice of celebrating their birthdays at an orphanage. Yes, it’s a legit thing people do, where they go and cut a cake at an orphanage surrounded by orphan kids.

India’s state capacity is so low that it sort of parallels the British Raj, i.e., merely hundreds or thousands of officers ruling an entire subcontinent. The Raj had limited numbers likely due to technological constraints at that time. Our constraints today are purely artificial.

As one ages, a fondness for seemingly banal jokes emerges within them. A chuckle erupts every time a joke about Steve Jobs being “Jobless” or Dr. Ally Louks being “Dr. Ali Goodlooks” is uttered. Despite their inherent absurdity, these jokes offer a sense of solace.
