I had these two jars on my kitchen table for a long time (without the labels on the lids) and had to double check them each time I used them. It was just a matter of time until I was in a hurry and didn't check. That time was today. Never again.

Anyway, earlier she was doing an almost-but-not-quite-snake-bark but it didn't sound urgent so I ignored it. But my mom went out to check and apparently Poppy was barking at a shed snake skin, which in hindsight is pretty appropriate because that would certainly be an almost-but-not-quite-snake.

Honestly don't know how she learned to be afraid of snakes, but even when she was younger, she would sometimes get startled by a water hose and do her snake bark. Snake bark is very distinct.

I'm not sure if I've just learned to understand my dog, or if my dog has learned how to communicate different things, but she has specific barks for people, ODs ("other dogs"), medium-size mammals like possums or racoons (assumed to be larval ODs so not as much a threat), and snakes (biggest threat)
