It doesn’t sound all that unlikely to me: source A, probably public and official-seeming, makes a typo; source B uses source A and repeats the error; source C checks A and B and finds a consensus; repeat for sources D-Z, reinforcing the consensus each time.

I think I agree generally. My point is that the relationships between Canadian sovereignty, the existence of a distinct Canadian Crown and (as you note) Canadian nationhood are all pretty nuanced, and none is a perfect guide to any of the others.

Canadian sovereignty pre-patriation is a bit of slippery concept, but the most reasonable gloss is that there wasn’t really a distinct Canadian Crown until 1931 so I’m not sure it’s a particularly helpful guide here.

Yeah I have the first note in bar one and both notes in bar two as half notes but it’s really not easy to make out with the circling and the letters inside.
