The only way you can take a republic country like the United States and turn it into an authoritarian country is by causing chaos on purpose and then saying, 'hey look, government is a mess. You need us, the authoritarian country, to rule you.' It's insane.

Demanding you accept as true things you can plainly see are not is part of the authoritarian playbook. This is not a gaffe, by Johnson or the network or the camera operator. This is an intentional display of power and an implicit demand for submission. The proper response _is_ to laugh at them. 😂😂😂

It’s pretty blackpilling that Republicans are actively trying their best to destroy the world and the biggest media outlets in the U.S. (in some cases owned by said Republicans) are making shit up about progressives instead of covering it. We need to replace that whole media ecosystem

AI is a normal tech. That means there are times when it is useful and times when it is pointless or actively harmful. One rule of thumb for chatbots is that they can only provide useful information to experts who have the discernment to ignore the defective output that LLMs *always* emit. 60/

Here's the serious bit for anyone who'd rather skip the 4000 words of jokes
Because the truth is, tech doesn't have an image problem. It doesn't have a message problem. It has an intention problem. What's wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasn't successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. What's wrong is that he's trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product that's designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isn't that you haven't told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them. (
There are things in the world that are more important than money. The fact that you seem not to believe this, that you seem to think any motive beyond ruthless acquisitiveness is fake, dishonest, or childish, is the heart of your problem. Your attitude is not by any means unique to tech, but the

You don't have to overturn Citizens United to beat it. Corporations only exist because states charter them, so a state can decide spending in elections isn't a power they wield. Not regulation, redefinition. Hawaii made it law. Montana's gathering signatures. More states are watching.

For generations, the American empire was the most powerful force on earth, and so we tended to assume that it was the most *durable* force on earth - surely anything so powerful *must* also be *eternal*? 1/
A detail from Dore's engraving depicting the drowning of the Leviathan - a great sea-serpent thrashing in a chaotic dark sea. The image has been altered: it has been hand-tinted. The sea serpent is wearing a MAGA hat. Drowning nearby are a beleagured Uncle Sam, an Android robot, and the Statue of Liberty.
