I think a lot of people reply to tone better than they do to substance, which is why they will go for aesthetics or for really nice presentation and see things about it that aren't there--how intellectual or passionate it is--if the aesthetics match their preconceptions.

I seem to be contrary to popular opinion again but I really like this trailer. It shows so much individual character as each participant joins the march. It tells a small story about who the key characters are without words, it has a narrative arc, and of course the music sells the whole thing.

My parents were religious whenever my grandparents looked their way, so I suppose I grew up with more Orthodox Jewish-learning than the average Canadian rascal. I even attended Hebrew school on alternating weeknights and Sundays. But my parents also turned on WWF's Maple Leaf Wrestling for us when we got home from synagogue and otherwise used electronics that are traditionally forbidden on the Day of Rest in Orthodox Judaism. So I hope it's not too much of a shock for anyone when I admit it was a pair of video games and not religion, philosophy, or education that made me rethink life, the universe, and everything.
Well, not at first. Please don't take this as a sign my philosophical outlook on the world is shaped exclusively by games. I strongly believe it's beneficial to forge a life path using as many outlets available to you as possible, including digital, analogue, and hands-on.

The final fight against Dracula is still regarded as a nightmare gauntlet in Akumajō Densetsu, but in Castlevania 3, it’s interactive hate mail to North America’s rental market and the game-hungry children who kept its gears greased. Dracula has three forms in Castlevania 3: First up is a pale guy in a cape wielding a magic wand. He makes fire shoot out of the ground, and if you don’t have the reflexes of a chipmunk on amphetamines, main vampire hunter Trevor gets a pillar of fire up his ass. (Don’t tell me he’s wearing underwear under that doeskin skirt of his. Trevor Belmont is no coward.) Dracula’s second form is an amalgamation of tortured faces connected by a giant brain. The fleshy mass floats around the screen, dripping acidic blood that shears off huge chunks of Trevor’s health when contact is made. And Dracula’s third form is a giant gargoyle that shoots lasers and spawns bottomless pits on the battlefield because eff you.
