Here's a brilliant tree
A broad tree stands in a narrow beam of early morning sunlight, with dappled side-light warming her trunk and bottom branches

I needed a shot of hope today: "They want you to give up before the battle even starts. This is manufactured helplessness. If they can convince you that the world is entirely amoral and that empathy is dead, you stop voting, stop protesting, and stop looking out for your neighbors."

Do my ears look big in this? #DogsOfBluesky
A black labrador sits on a shingle beach under an overcast sky. She's looking slightly up above the camera and her massive sail-like ears are blowing almost inside-out in the wind. Her mouthis slightly open and you can see her bottom teeth.

Even the dog likes this view! #Inveraray #DogsOfBluesky
A black labrador sits with her chin on the windowsill looking out at a beautiful view of a sea loch. The sky has patchy clouds and the water is blue. There are binoculars on the windowsill. The dog is not using them.

I bunked off school to watch the Mary Rose being raised in 1982. Only took me (nearly) 44 years to finally go and see it. Fabulous museum and tour, like being wrapped in a history blanket! @maryrosemuseum.bsky.social #BucketListStuff

Today is World Refugee Day. Here’s a poem called ‘Refugees’.
Refugees

They have no need of our help
So do not tell me
These haggard faces could belong to you or me
Should life have dealt a different hand
We need to see them for who they really are
Chancers and scroungers
Layabouts and loungers
With bombs up their sleeves
Cut-throats and thieves
They are not
Welcome here
We should make them
Go back to where they came from
They cannot
Share our food
Share our homes
Share our countries
Instead let us
Build a wall to keep them out
It is not okay to say
These are people just like us
A place should only belong to those who are born there
Do not be so stupid to think that
The world can be looked at another way

(now read from bottom to top)

There are, in my view, 25 things everyone needs to understand in light of recent events: 1) Those out in our communities last night were not protestors, but organised far right extremists. 2) Their actions align with fascist ideologies. 3) So yes: these are fascist practices on our streets. 🧵

One in five children infected in the recent London measles outbreak were reportedly hospitalised. Don’t believe the anti-vaxxers when they say “it’s a mild disease” or “it’s better to get immunity naturally”. It isn’t.

Early dog walks have their advantages #Sunrise #NotTheNews
Sunrise from behind a low ridge. There is a row of trees in silhouette, some conifers but mostly leaf-less broadleafs with their bare branches against the orange and blue sky. In the foreground is a frosty field with a few rays of sunlight raking across it.

Across a canal is a misty field with a lone tree silhouetted against the sky. The canal water is still and the tree is reflected in its surface. Apart from the green grass everything else has a blue hue.
