blood lake merfolk (extended) (available as a print at www.akairiot.com/prints )

Two blue-skinned mermaids float in a body of pure red liquid, framed by leaves, branches and shoreline weeds. They stare directly at the viewer -- one smiles with an open mouth, displaying sharp teeth, while the other is more reserved. I still really like this piece, and that's why I made it into a print that's available now in my online shop -- to fit the print format, I had to extend the borders of the composition vertically. It'll also work better as a phone background now or as a wallpaper on a vertical monitor.

So much of this applies to so many creative industries, it’s so frustrating. (Reposting image to include alt text).

Screenshot with text:
Swen Vincke - GDC 2024
"Greed has been fucking this whole thing up for so long, since I started," Vincke said, while collecting the GDCA Best Narrative award for Baldur's Gate 3. "I've been fighting publishers my entire life and I keep on seeing the same, same, same mistakes over, and over and over.
"It's always the quarterly profits," he continued, "the only thing that matters are the numbers, and then you fire everybody and then next year you say 'shit I'm out of developers' and then you start hiring people again, and then you do acquisitions, and then you put them in the same loop again, and it's just broken...
"You don't have to," Vincke went on. "You can make reserves.
Just slow down a bit. Slow down on the greed. Be resilient, take care of the people, don't lose the institutional knowledge that's been built up in the people you lose every single time, so you have to go through the same cycle over and over and over. It really pisses me off."

snow woman

A woman with pure white skin and very long blue hime-cut hair stands in a snowy forest entirely naked. Her lips and nipples are blue, her pubes are blue -- she's a yuki-onna, a Japanese folk spirit. I think the composition and colors are neat, but I wish I'd pushed the pose more on this one.

I still like it a lot, though! I would've made a print of this, except the company I use said "no pubes/genitals" -- at least I can still get prints of boobs and butts. Artistic nudity policies are weird sometimes.

Kelda! (will be a mousepad in the future)

A drawing of Kelda, my elemental character with water for hair. It's a simple and symmetrical portrait of her standing in water with reeds and cattails behind her. She's cute!

2B vs Vaseraga (preview) full version at www.patreon.com/akairiot

A cropped drawing of 2B from Nier Automata. She's sweaty and naked and laying on a bed, looking back over her shoulder. The shadow of a large fella with horns looms over her, implying that the owner of that shadow is behind her. The silhouette is that of Vaseraga, a character from Granblue Fantasy. Both of these characters are in Granblue Versus, a fighting game by ArcSys.

I've been playing Engage and I finally found a character I like

A drawing of Yunaka, the cute thief lady from Fire Emblem Engage. She's twirling a dagger and winking! This didn't turn out at all the way I planned, but it's simple and cute and I think I still like it.

Dark Link 🖤 ❤️ (Shonen Captain version)

Anime-style artwork. A female version of Link from the Legend of Zelda with tan skin and purple-grey hair stands with one hand on her hip in the center of the image, winking and twirling her sidelock with the fingers of her other hand. Her tunic is ragged on the edges and has a slit on each sides, exposing her thighs. A sword and two arrows are stuck in the ground behind her. Simple flat red background.

😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

A drawing of Dizzy from Guilty Gear! She's got one hand to her chest and the other at her side, kinda floating there and looking nervous. The proportions are more stylized and cuter because I'm still testing stuff out. I think it turned out nice, but I also want to keep pushing this and trying out more ideas.
