ProPublica @propublica.org · 22h
We're continuing to report on sports betting apps, and we need your help. ProPublica is looking for at least 250 people who use DraftKings and FanDuel to share their data with us and help us understand how the apps respond to user behavior. ➡️ How to help: projects.propublica.org/sports-betti...
A neon green tracker shows that ProPublica has received 28 people's sports betting data, just over 10% of the way towards its goal of 250. Text below reads: If you’re one of millions of Americans who have placed an online bet on a sporting event, you know how quickly you can go from celebrating your wins to feeling like the odds are stacked against you.

ProPublica is trying to understand how sports betting apps incentivize users to keep playing and when they warn users to pump the brakes. To do that, we need your help: We’re aiming for at least 250 people to upload their gambling history from apps like FanDuel and DraftKings. We’re not quite there yet, so if you’ve used these apps, you can help our journalists. If you’ve worked in the industry, you can also help us by answering a few questions. (You can also reach us on Signal.)

If you need to mail your ballot, the Washington Secretary of State recommends mailing it more than a week before Election Day. After that, use a drop box. #NationalVoterRegistrationDay
Text reads "Voting Tips: 2 Things to Do Before Election Day. Check your information: Have you moved recently? Make sure your new address is on file at VoteWA.gov. Get status updates on your ballot: Text the word ‘VOTE’ to 868392 to get updates on your ballot via text message. Find more information about your vote at the WA Secretary of State website: sos.wa.gov/elections."

This Nov., to ensure your ballot is received and counted on time, drop your ballot in at an official dropbox. With U.S. Postal Service delays, we can’t be certain it will get postmarked on time. To find an official dropbox near you, visit VoteWA.gov

The architecture of anti-trans panic is built, in part, by parents who refuse to accept their kids as trans and then become anti-trans pundits. Wrote about this phenomenon via a profile of Renton Sinclair, the trans son of an anti-trans influencer www.huffpost.com/entry/trans-...

Renton Sinclair’s mother is a former Miss Illinois who wants to force trans people out of public life. That’s exactly what makes her a rising star in MAGA World.

ICE collected DNA from nearly 1 million people in just the last year. Yet when it comes to wearing body cameras for accountability, the agency suddenly runs out of money. When agencies operate in the dark, surveillance abuse isn’t a glitch, it’s a guarantee. @laurenleharper.bsky.social explains:
