It's so weird hearing them describe Sepang as "an old school racetrack". I remember when it was new! When the old guard of the time were decrying it because the track was too wide and the barriers were far away. It's so far removed from the Imolas and Zandvoorts.

In the ALMS days I would've stayed up watching Petit Le Mans, but since the transition to 10hr event instead of 1000 miles, these days it finishes at 3:10am.

I've been off all week and as ever my body clock shifted to it's natural 9.30am-1.30am It would make sense for me to be up earlier tomorrow morning, watch the GP live at 8am. This way Monday morning won't hurt!

They've done a great job to set up Sepang to look like a normal Grand Prix weekend with only what two months' notice publicly (assume a little more privately). I even like the little nods to Bahrain, the logo on the track, the decor in the paddock.

This is an excellent article explaining why the series is going to have, probably, two Hypercars, and definitely worth a read. Also this possibility I'd completely not heard of foiled only by the fact that Ajith Kumar is Not Very Good at prototypes.

A much anticipated Acura privateer entry came to nothing with the intended bronze (believed to be Indian film star Ajith Kumar) coming to the correct conclusion that Hypercar was a significant step ahead of where their driving abilities were.

Palou and Lundgaard is a tough combination to beat. In theory O'Ward/Dixon/Rosenqvist ought to be as well but there's something about McLaren where they aren't really there yet.

Enjoying Jacques Villeneuve saying VSCs are stupid and they should've used the normal SC in Madrid. I mean I disagree, VSCs work well when they are done properly, but his point that everyone should have equal chance to pit is absolutely right.

Jamie Chadwick getting a Williams run out is cool, though still feels tokenistic. Particularly imagine running your first F1 car at Portimao though, what a rollercoaster that is. And she's raced LMP2 there so she knows the place.

It'll be fun to see how Kimi wins from there.

The other thing going on is I took next week off work. Ostensibly to have a break from screens before a hectic time coming up. Go for walks, get some air while it's still quite warm. Of course I'm sure I'll spend a day catching up on something or other. :)

the POINT of this stunt about moving the grand prix to the Saturday and holding it this weekend is that Aliyev wants to draw attention to his agenda here. the idea is to get foreigners in and push the Azerbaijan narrative. Armenia can't afford to do this sort of shit. it's a stunt.

Azerbaijan was the aggressor in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war and has subsequently entirely annexed the conflicted territory, expelling 100,000 Armenians. Aliyev has spent the past few weeks taking foreign dignitaries on tours of Nagorno-Karabakh saying there's no Armenian heritage there

Donington GP 2025 Race 2 Was going along nicely, suddenly the camera cuts to McLeans and it's a downpour, 5 or 6 cars go off, somehow Cammish stays the leader to win his 200th race (already 200???) - Shedden suddenly appears 2nd from 6th.

BTCC Donington GP 2025, more support races. MINI Trophy side by side for lap 1. Car off with no wheel but stayed green? Seemed a lot of cars at the start and not many at the end.

2027 calendars: I had my usual existential crisis and I've decided to carry on another year, with the difference that I'm going back to the way I used to do it. That means uploads will start in October. Cramming everything into January was not fun.

Went to Axminster Carnival and saw a McLaren.
