My dragons and airships novel has a parrot in it. There are a few short sections from the parrot’s point of view. My editor (still rereading the text) thanked me for these sections. 🦜 The story is, in some ways, about the personhood of animals - dragons and parrots included

For fans of Tolkien, I can’t recommend Raina Nightingale’s Kindred Of The Sea enough. The story is a wonderfully unique experience, cozy, thoughtful, & continuing in a tradition of so much of what I loved about the world of The Lord of the Rings @areaernovels.bsky.social

There's a great thread here on going hybrid/self-pub from a trad pubbed background including a look at common misconceptions/myths about self-publishing. If you're a trad pubbed author, you owe it to yourself to look at various avenues for your books! ESPECIALLY if you write queer books.
