Audiobook recording is so strange. I’ll stumble through a take that feels awkward the whole way through, so I’ll redo the whole thing. But when I listen back the next day, however halting, the first take sings and the retake is flat. 🤷‍♀️ Do or do not, there is no try (I guess)

My dragons and airships novel has a parrot in it. There are a few short sections from the parrot’s point of view. My editor (still rereading the text) thanked me for these sections. 🦜 The story is, in some ways, about the personhood of animals - dragons and parrots included

I was so, so surprised by Tombs of Atuan. It was such an incredible and unexpected sequel to Wizard of Earthsea. One of the best books I’ve ever read.
