Donkey Kong 64 contains unused text that would have referenced the Gold Skulltula sidequest from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as a joke explanation for Donkey Kong not being able to do something.
(mockup screenshot using text extracted from files)
HEY, DONKEY, YOU'LL NEED 100 SKULLTILLEYS IF YOU WANT TO RACE ME!
Donkey Kong 64 contains an unused line of text for the seal in Gloomy Galleon where he tells Donkey Kong that he needs "100 Skulltilleys" to race him. This was intended to be used in the game's demo as a joke explanation for why the race cannot be accessed.
This is of course a reference to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, where Gold Skulltulas can be found all over Hyrule. Defeating them produces tokens, 100 of which are needed to lift the curse on a family in Kakariko Village which turned them into spiders.
The spelling "Skulltilleys" instead of "Skulltulas" appears to be an inside reference to the name of Rareware artist Carl Tilley, who worked on this game.

It has been a lot of fun developing my “cave art” style. In the context of my story, the most common cave art does not depict eyes, as it is considered a taboo to include them. It is thought to bind the soul of the creature depicted and thus, cause their spirit to be angry.

Today's four GHOULISH works of palaeoart! Art by Peter Zallinger, Tony Gibbons, Boris Vallejo, and Richard Orr!
A fleshy pink Triceratops with a nearly skeletal face charges a bloated, similarly pink Tyrannosaurus. The theropod's huge head sports a slavering, toothy grin, looking off to the side as if totally unaware of the charging herbivore.A towering yellow Spinosaurus with pavement-like scales and human-like legs sprints through a forest under a full moon, mouth agape and eyes wide in an expression that is both terrifying and terrified.A trio of long-tailed, draconic pterosaurs flee from a strangely humanoid theropod, soaring past volcanic spires that belch plumes of flames and smoke into a burning red sky.A heavily armoured Ornithosuchus with hugely muscular thighs and weedy lower legs tears a chunk of ragged flesh from the partially eaten carcass of a dead dicynodont partially hidden in a thicket of leafy foliage.

Today’s four random pieces of palaeoart: Bob Walters’ Centrosaurus, Graham High’s Tyrannosaurus, John Conway’s Yi, and Rod Ruth’s Iguanodon!
A Centrosaurus emerges from behind a shrub, mouth open as if mid-bellow. Its long nasal horn curves subtly downward, pointing almost perfectly horizontally while the head is slightly downturned.A model of a sandy-coloured Tyrannosaurus with slim, athletic proportions and a tightly curved tail. Its head is held up, jaws agape in a threatening display. A feathery, parrot-like scansoriopterygid spreads its kite-like wings as it approaches a tree branch, feet held out in preparation to perch. A towering green Iguanodon with a prominent, dewlap-like gular pouch browses on leafy greenery as it yanks a tree limb down with its hands. Behind, a horizontally postured Iguanodon toddles past. A tortoise watches the giant reptile with a look of mild jealousy. Behind, the sky is tinted orange by the setting sun.

Are there any Eyewitness Virtual Reality Dinosaur Hunter fans in the audience tonight
The paper case for the CD-ROM game Eyewitness Virtual Reality Dinosaur Hunter. It reads "Dinosaur Hunter. Bring dinosaurs back to life! For ages 8 and up". It features a 3D model of a T. rex skeleton and cutout images of various dinosaurs adorning the title of the game. In the upper left corner is the Dorling Kindersley logo (an open book with the red letters DK on the pages)A screenshot of Eyewitness Dinosaur Hunter. It shows a gloomy museum hallway designed to look like it's made of stone. Images of dinosaurs are on the walls; here you can see Barosaurus, Diplodocus, Stegosaurus, and Apatosaurus. There's a fern on the ground. A timeline on the floor is labeled "155 MYA". It leads into a room which is labeled "Cretaceous. 144-95 MYA". This is all rendered in juicy 16-bit color with the best 3D rendering 1996 can offerAnother screenshot of the game. It shows the inside of another gloomily lit room in the museum. Exhibits on the walls show dinosaur heads and skulls, plus things like dinosaur skin and a model of an Edmontonia. Now this is a liminal space

I did a tiny bit of trinket trading at the faire. Quite a few of my little watercolors are left so I'll do more trinket trading in the future with friends or randomly.
After the Spokane Renaissance Faire when I emptied out my bag. At left is my ziploc bag of handmade watercolors that I painted. There is small prints, business cards, plastic coins, my partner's extra ring, a cat shaped paperclip, the smallest whale toy I've ever seen, and the One Wish Willow I bought. A character tent with a guy who I don't know wearing dragon wings on the left, a dragon behind, me in the middle and my partner on the right.

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a high school basketball game. The home team is down 9 points, and some players are looking discouraged on the bench. The coach points to a player just out of frame and says, “flippers, you’re in!” Panel 2: the away team attempts a deep 2-point shot, possibly to beat the buzzer, which is blocked by Flippers, a whale who doesn’t even have his arms up. Panel 3: the game ends and the home team excitedly crowd around Flippers, who won them the game. A player from the away team looks stunned, with his hands on his head.

What better way to kick off the spookiest month of the year than with ghoulish, gory, or otherwise monstrous dinosaurs? I'll be sharing spooky palaeoart alongside my usual palaeoart posts throughout the month to help get us into the Halloween mood!
A pair of yellow and black splotched Baryonyx messily dig into the torn viscera of a large-scaled, green Iguanodon.A wrinkled, big-scaled Tyrannosaurus with a skin texture reminiscent of a latex Halloween mask. Its white teeth are fully exposed in a permanent grin, and the rear of its skull sports a huge ear hole.A Tyrannosaurus with voluminous, bulky neck, rugose crenulated skin, and a light covering of thin, quilly filaments messily crushes the skull of a Triceratops. Blood and bone splinters spray in an explosion of gore as the rear portion of the herbivore's skull falls to the ground.A draconic Allosaurus perches like a gargoyle atop the partially eaten carcass of an ornithopod. Its jaws drip with strips of bloody meat, and its aquiline eyes stare intensely. Its back is lined with spiny ridges that rise and fall along its dorsum, and its feet and hands clutch the carcass like a bird of prey's talons.

A detail I like about this piece is that one of the Allosaurus is looking in the juvenile’s direction. It’s not any less dangerous of a task, though, with all the adults amok and probably not taking kindly to the theropods. Art by John Gurche

Today's four random pieces of palaeoart: Karen Carr's Deinonychus and hypsilophodonts, Luis Rey's Amargasaurus, @emilyhiggs-art.bsky.social's Edmontosaurus, and Ely Kish's Stygimoloch!
Four tiny, yellow-green ornithopods drink from a pond in a flooded forest. Behind, a striped, scaly Deinonychus lurches out from the greenery behind. The smaller dinosaurs are framed by stark white and deep, earthy greenery, trapping them with the encroaching predator.A trio of Amargasaurus with pink, fleshy nostrils and jet-black neck spines display in a sandy desert. A quartet of tiny, zebra-striped ornithopods enter the frame from the right, while a tiny yellow-headed theropod walks towards the viewer. Several prominent footprints are strewn about the sand.A massive hadrosaur with a splotchy, lizard-like pattern of dappled brown, yellow, orange fading to a creamy white underside. It strides forth with imposing presence, mouth gaped as if letting forth a thunderous bellow. Its nose steams with moisture, and its eyes glow with white intensity. The deep, triangular tail is curved toward the viewer, partially filling the frame.A sickly-thin, pin-headed pachycephalosaur with light green skin dappled with black speckles walks through a conifer forest, framed by trunks, ferns, and vines. Its long, stiff tail sports a dazzling zig-zag pattern that virtually disappears against the earthy forest floor behind it.

Surprisingly, unlike a lot of the creatures in Weird ‘n Wild Creatures, the T. rex has no blood or gore in any of its artwork. It’s more comparable to, for example, this African elephant.
